In NYS we are required to set the parking brake also whenever loading or unloading. Also, when you are crossing a student, you don’t have your hand over the horn in case you had to have that student return to their starting position. Lastly, in NYS we are instructed to have the child check back in with the driver at the second crossover mirror before completing the cross

In California we get out of the bus and cross the kids over using voice commands and a hand held stop sign (in addition to the amber and red lights). However, for optimum safety our dispatchers develop routes that position pickups and drop-offs on the right, so we don't have to cross anyone over. I've never had to cross anyone, and I've been driving for 9 years.

In NY it is required to set the emergency brake at every pick up and drop off.

You must secure the bus. In class B their is no park so the only way to accomplish this is by pulling the brakes.

Hand signals like that (5 fingers up to stop or a wave to come to the bus), can be misconstrued by a driver in a rush that he / she is being waved to pass. Students should be instructed to wait for a simple head nod from the driver to start boarding. I would refrain from the hand signals used here.

That's a very good point. This is how we're required to do it in NY.

Ohio you don't dont wave at kids, it's law to raise your hand so they can see you, ten to 20 paces along the roadway, when its safe to cross you drop your hand straight down. You are wrong in waving because a car could assume you are waving them on.

Can you guys do a video on a full sized bus
@cdlanddriving97364 жыл бұрын
Yes that is coming soon just trying to figure out which bus will fit for most people universally across the US. The pickup and drop off procedures are the same except no PARK in big bus. You switch to neutral and apply parking brake.

@@cdlanddriving9736 you should do a Thomas c2 every district has them and that is the new 2020 buses
@cdlanddriving97364 жыл бұрын
we have several districts in our area that only have type D flat front buses. I may just do 2 or 3 videos. Finding the time is becoming the challenge. Special needs contracts are exploding and training in the smaller sizes is way more common than years previous. There was little to know content on these smaller buses so I was filling in where ground was not covered in other videos. I like your selection and will most likely go with it. Thank you so much.

Why are there some kind of triangles and stop signs on the upper right?
@cdlanddriving97364 жыл бұрын
I thought they were removed during editing. I guess they were just moved.

I'm sorry to hear that. What state did you test in? I hope you go back and try again. Don't be discouraged because many don't pass everything the 1st try.
