My school allowed students to retake pictures, but you needed to sumbit a form for it and pay a dollar, with up to two retakes max. For anyone that regretted the way their picture came out, this was a relief.

Most relatable episode of Ned’s Declassified for me so far. I’ve not had great photos throughout school due to the forced smile situation. Thankfully in my Senior year Picture day was taken more seriously to where students had more control over getting the best picture they could.

11:35 Well as a kid, when the photographer said, "say cheese", I'd always assumed it was a code-word that needed to be said to get the camera to work. Now I'm an adult, I know why, your mouth naturally forms a smile when you say "cheese".

My elementary school had a picture wall. Not for picture day, I think it was for students that got the highest grades that marking period. The pictures were usually silly, like our faces would be put on these characters. Something like the boys might be scuba divers or pirates and the girls might be mermaids. Stuff like that. Picture taken, face cut out and silly picture.

Once again it was great to rewatch this classic with you and hear your commentary. I remember in my elementary school we didn't have a "picture wall" per se but we did have a birthday wall. Your picture was up for the entire month of your birthday. Summer birthdays were included on the wall with June birthdays IIRC.

I remember how one year, I went out of town on picture day, and then when I came back, I got sick and missed the picture retake day. Then when the end of the year came around, I got my yearbook, then looked everywhere only to realize to my embarrassment that I wasn’t in it. You can imagine that I was furious because I was, and I even wrote a note in the front of the book that said I was a student that year.

When I was in high school I didn't realize seniors had to submit the pictures they wanted to appear in the yearbook personally. I assumed that like every other year the picture day picture would just appear as a default (if you didn't submit a different picture). I was wrong and my picture didn't appear in my high school year book in my senior year. I was so disappointed when I opened it up only to appear listed under "picture not available."

My senior year book ultimately got stolen from me anyway, along with a few other things while I was in gym class. I hadn't properly locked my gym locker which had my backpack in it and someone rifled through my stuff and literally none of the school staff even cared it happened and made no attempt to investigate who did it. My dad went there and threw a fit over it, but nothing came of it.

there was a year i got my picture taken and i didn't smile correctly and my mom got mad at the people for letting that happen lol so at times they let things slide, but it's taught me just to always smile better in pictures lol

Not knowing how to smile is really relatable. I know how to smile of course, if I’m having fun, thought of something funny or see my cat. But posing a smile for a photo is impossible. I usually have one of those closed, half smiles. Although, it was easier for me to have a big smile when I was a kid. On the other hand, there was one class photo where I looked really angry.

In my high school we never did lone photos for the yearbook. My high school took photos of the whole class and teacher together and they would put them the yearbook.

I only had my picture retaken in school once, only because I didn’t like I was grimacing from braces. Also the whole only torso needing to look nice: there were grade (all the students in the same grade with the two teachers) pictures in elementary school, and we were wearing school uniforms.

Ned's Declassified is a pretty ok show. Episodes like this are definitely funny. I always loved picture day, but looking back at the photos now that I'm older is pretty cringe and I'm sure it's like that for others as well. Even my senior pictures when I flat ironed my hair look unnatural. XD Great memories though.

The ridiculous things some of those students wore really reminds me of a scene in the fifth Captain Underpants book where George and Harold got ahold of the school secretary’s computer while she was off-duty, then hilariously altered the Friday memo before printing out the copies they were instructed to distribute. They told all the students to wear *honeybee costumes* on picture day, and they even put in a line that said, “Whoever makes the funniest face wins a pizza party for their class”, so you can totally tell the school photos were ruined because all the students were wearing honeybee costumes that covered some parts of their heads, and they weren’t even smiling for the camera; they were just making goofy faces. And even worse: Krupp could not intervene because his mind had gone blank.

I hated picture day growing up because I was always one of the tallest girls and felt so awkward in the back row. By high school, I was in the front row because everyone had grown past me😂😂

Back in fourth grade, I wrote on my arm with a black pen on school picture day. Somehow, the teachers and even the photographer didn’t care, so they took my photo regardless, and they didn’t even ask me to retake it. If you looked very closely at my school photo, you could see the thing I had written on my arm. (We didn’t do head shots until I got into middle school; back then, our photos showed the upper halves of our bodies.)

It’s pretty weird that they put SpongeBob in this episode, considering that Nickelodeon has a policy not to advertise their other programs within their shows. (Easter eggs are allowed, but straight-up advertising the other shows isn’t; that’s usually reserved for the commercial breaks.)

This is a question I frequently find popping up in my head. You know how back in 2020-2022, we had the COVID-19 outbreak? I heard that caused a large influx of students who learned exclusively from their homes (remote learning, if you will.) Since many of the remote learners couldn’t come to school on picture day, how did you handle them in the yearbook? Did you have access to a database of remote students registered into the school system? Did the yearbook, by any chance, mention their names? I’d hate to have been a student who got excluded from the yearbook simply because I had to do all my work from home.

I was a dancer in for our program we always had to take photos for every single dance we were in as well as if your parents wanted you could also get photos of you singularly well one year apparently before I went to get a solo photo done I decided that I did not have enough lipstick and proceeded to smother my lips and bright red lipstick before my mom Noticed and the photographer was so busy. She was just snapping photos as fast as she could. So when I got back to the dressing room, my mom looks horrified at my face and we didn’t have time to take another photo so the photo we ended up with this, smiling with enormous red lips.

I seem to remember this one time in my life when one of the school bullies decided to ruin a kid’s appearance for his photo, so he *bashed that kid into the fire alarm* just to give him a nasty bruise and some plastic cuts as well. It was awful having to evacuate the building right when we were preparing to get our pictures taken. Of course, that bully did get suspended, but as for his victim, he got sent to the ER because the attack caused him to sustain terrible bodily damage, so he missed getting his picture taken. He ended up having his parents send in a picture later in the year so he could make it into the yearbook.
