I love when teachers do that, sometimes they'll even teach something useful. School is mainly useful because having a degree is practically required everywhere and just says "hey, I'm competent and committed to something and finished it."

When my old maths teacher was telling us about ratios, he used horse betting as an example, and my class, seeing an opportunity as he was interested din betting asked him to explain horse betting in more detail. We kept asking him questions until the period ended. It was a good maths class.

Everyone told me when I grow up life will be so much harder than school, and that if I couldn't handle school, I couldn't handle real life. First of all, that's a fucked up thing to say to a kid. Second, I've done all the adult shit adults do, did taxes, payed rent, lived off ramen for long periods of time, put up with jobs and insurance and all that bullshit. I've only graduated a few years ago, but honestly I'm waiting for the hard parts, because nothing was as depressing, humiliating, and traumatizing as my entire school experience. Don't get me wrong, I consider stabbing my eyes out just to avoid work sometimes, but it's world's better than any school I've ever been to, at least there's a chance for more flexible hours
