I heard a little edge of Aretha, or maybe Tina in that voice. I got the feeling she was "coasting", to keep the attention to the whole tune, rather than belting it out. Perfect. Exactly in keeping with the original.

The bottom end is perfect. This is a difficult song to hold onto. Hard for drums to keep back the desire to fill. Bass is doing a great job, by first, driving the vocals by setting a comfortable place for the lead vocal girls not to strain to carry the song and, then, widening the field for the six-string players. Guitar breaks are finely held in the mix. Great job!

Marvin Gaye did his cover a year later in '68. John Fogerty and CCR finally got the bug and released their unique cover in 1970, the year I went to Vietnam - but that didn't stop me from enjoying CCRs version!
