My biggest regret is not seeing these live, before we lost Ben. They were playing at the same venue in Birmingham that I was seeing Melt-Banana, on the same night.(in another room of course), still pains me...

I never got to see them either. I saw The Secret Machines 3 times. It was a rough time for shoegaze and sonic laced rock. They really had a hard time filling up venues. The big buzz was MGMT, The Black Keys, etc. One of The Secret Machines last shows they literally played in front of like 60 people. 2007-2014 were dark days for shoegaze, and this song is a straight up shoegaze track with the vocals brought to the surface about 10% because of their beauty. People call it dreampop because of the synth I think. But honestly, it was their way at the time to fill up the sound space considering it was basically a duo on this record. They really created some really interesting and beautiful soundscapes that puts this record on the "A" tier for me.
