I am actually surprised how wide the range of different clothing from the company Schott is. Thanks for your presentation and stay safe, peace and kindest regards.

You know, I bought that in Medium but it was a little too tight at my armpits, restricting comfortable movement - you definitely know what I am talking about because I’ve seen a few videos where you’ve addressed that fitting issue. Anyway, no, I don’t think you should. In my humble opinion, I would keep the one you have here but adjust the sleeves to your size. Greetings! Thanks for sharing your opinion on cool coats and jackets.

I think it fits you well, and the length is good. I would not size down, but the sleeves are too long. I would shorten them. I bought a vintage 1968 Navy Peacoat for $60 and had the sleeves shortened. It was a real bargain compared to buying new and still 100% wool

@@DudsByDel I see your point, but I do sometimes regret not getting a 36! Something about a peacoat that fits too slim doesnt sit right with me. I have this in size 40, and probably could do with a size 38. The sleeves for me are just right because I’m a taller guy with longer arms. Regardless this is a great beater for 40*F weather. It’s not really that warm compared to down parkas unless you wear a ton of inner layers.

Hi Del, today I’m wearing my schott 140 leather peacoat. Normally my size is 40, but for schott 140 leather peacoat, 36 fit me but the sleeves are a bit short. I suggest you to try 140 leather peacoat which is one of my favorite leather jacket.
@DudsByDel11 ай бұрын
Nice may have to do just that. At the very least gives the hint that a 36 may fit me better in this style 🤔
@rickhunter666711 ай бұрын
@@DudsByDel I bought three of them , they are all second hand. Initially I bought 40, it looks like a sleeping bag on me, then I bought second one which was 38, still pretty loose on me, the reason I didn’t buy 36 at second time is because I’m 5’11 and I never thought that I would fit any jacket on size 36, but this one is an exception. Finally I bought 36, it fit me good only the sleeves are a bit shorter. So if you are not extremely tall, I highly recommend down two size for schott peacoat. Terrible experience, I have to get rid of size 40, I may keep 38, because I can layer more clothes underneath.

I'm a fan of Schott but I'm not aware of any substantial improvements this $380 coat incorporates over a standard vintage military coat easily found for under $100. I have two. Neither was stiff. Honestly it seems a frivolous purchase.FWIW both my peacoats are 38 , my regular size, and fit true to size.
@DudsByDel11 ай бұрын
Hey Jeff. Your argument holds across the spectrum when arguing for buying used versus new. I’m a fan of buying used and all of my non-custom leather jackets for example are used (I even made a video about it! Perhaps should return to the subject though) I have only the one experience buying a vintage peacoat and it was very stiff. So much so that it left red marks against my neck where the collar rubbed against it. Because the price for used fluctuates depending on the item condition, seller, and your patience, I typically reference retail prices for ease of comparison.

Honestly, the fit seems a little odd. The coat seems to fit well in the shoulders and body as-is, but the sleeve length would be to me way too long. Are the sleeves meant for tailoring or cuffing? Or is the coat overall intended perhaps to be worn over something like the 141 in cold weather? The sleeve length in that use case would make sense to me then.
@DudsByDel5 ай бұрын
@@machtmer from what I can tell it’s intended as an overcoat over other heavy layers. Pretty typical for a lot of military styles, it’s overly big. I think most folks would want to size down 2 for how we typically use coats these days
