@ThatBugBehindYou3 жыл бұрын
That would make it weaker meaning it's shelf life in action is drastically lowered, not to mention what exactly are you going to be cutting with that? It's shape is for penetration and causing bleeding, literally any other knife is better and can easily be worn on the hip alongside the spear anyway.

@RimWulf8 жыл бұрын
the "blood groove" as it is often called was originally intended to give the blade strength while help make it lighter and the fact that it allowed blood to flow by was only an afterthought. Today it's mostly for aesthetics and useless you get better effect by twisting the blade- or removing it- after you stab something.
@SurvivalOnPurpose8 жыл бұрын
All righty then ;-)
@chrisclarke83612 жыл бұрын
At no point is a fuller thought of for letting blood escape a wound... that's what the wound is for. These anime weeb fruitcakes think it's for letting the blade release from the suction or vacuum of the chest cavity. Often also thought of for allowing blood to spurt out more freely. 100% crap. As you noted, it's ONLY for weight reduction and ridge strength of a blade or beam.
@edwardspitzer23308 жыл бұрын
Does it come with separate grips so you could unscrew the blade and put regular grips on it and make a regular knife out of it too

Brian, that is a cool item, one of my fav's from the Chris Tanner tagged weapons video. I would say my only gripe with it is the shortness of the standard shaft. Dave Canterbury makes a really good point that if you are going to carry a spear or pointed stick in the woods for hunting etc. the spear point should be somewhere above your head when the end of the shaft is resting on the ground, because if you trip it will lessen greatly the likelihood of you stabbing yourself. So, in a really long about way of asking a question, can you add two of those 15" extensions in a row to make it long enough?

I think the answer is yes. 99.9% sure

The cold steel bushman was a best seller for many years... also the cold steel warhead was very popular as a spear head. It would be interesting to see how this schrade offering does after a few extended target sessions. I am by no means a spear expert but the schrade blade shape looks more 'stabby' than 'tough.' You have to figure that with even moderate any of these are going to get beat up a bit. Is that steel good for field sharpening?

I never thought of buying a spear before. Looks cool though! Thanks for including the optional extension! Honestly, I hope I never have to depend on fish or game. The fish and wildlife packet is listing an increasing number of local lakes as not safe to eat more than 1 serving per month of an amount of fish equal to the size of my hand. (Pesticide and industrial runoff, yay.) And with all the fires burning up the local game, Im going to do a lot more monster shitting and starving than eating. =/ Survival woes aside, it really tickles the kid in me thinking of doing target practice with a spear. You mention keeping it in your hand. What is the vibration transfer like?

Cool, fun and probably rugged enough to be actually used, but in my opinion it has quite a serious bias: a spear should be at least as long as wielder's height. Otherwise it may be dangerous as it can stab you under the chin if you lose balance or something like that. Always check length with spears: too long and it becomes an unwieldy pike, too short and it becomes a threat for yourself. The right measure is something betweem 170 and 230 cm, in my opinion
@jdzencelowcz7 жыл бұрын
