Indeed, even no. 2 is underrated in comparison to the D major no. 1. I’ve played a solo piano version of the no. 1, and no, it wasn’t transposed to Db. In fact, when searching for a solo piano version for me to know what tempo I was supposed to aim for, I was downright surprised by how many performances were in the transposed key of Db and I could only find 1 that was in Schubert’s original D major like in my piano book. Never played the other 2 of the opus.

This a beautiful piece of music, full of drama and perfectly structured. I cannot understand why it always sits in the shadow of its more famous companion, the Marche in D Major
