I rode my C4 Pro for 3 days and 840km under massive rainstorms a week ago and it performed, with the pinlock installed, beyond expectations. My fellow riders saw me ride with visor shut on the motorways whilst they had to keep theirs totally opened to be able to see anything. I upgraded from a C3 Pro just over a year ago and it was the 1st ever time I faced so much water for so long; the upgrade to C4 Pro was a massive improvement!

Hi Thierry, thanks for sharing with us how you found the C4 Pro! Schuberth have definitely made a lot of improvements for the better with the C4 Pro, and the Pinlock brand insert lens definitely makes a difference. Besides its anti-fog capabilities, how have you found the C4 Pro?

Mercer69 I know what you mean about the quality feel. I will say the Schuberth has better air flow in the helmet. Both the Schuberth and Neotec II are the best in quietness and equal to each other IMO. But the Schuberth just feels too plastic. I had to manipulate the cheek sides to get the module to lock and the Cardo system in it only worked for a few months before I had tons of connection problems. The Sena com system is working so far but the speakers are puny. Had it two days and I’m looking for replacement speakers already. I have no problem cutting wires and hot gluing in some new ones to those little backing pieces. The Neotec II feels solid yet not heavy at all. To me it is the better helmet.

I own both. Well, my Schuberth is the E1 which is the C3 Pro with a sun shield on top. But I have a 61.5 cm oval head and even a 2XL E1 was tight and it took months for it to conform to my head. And the neck curtain was so tight that it rocked the helmet too far forward. But I spent the money so I got two years out of it. I had the Cardo com system in it and I tossed that crap. But I tried on the Neotec II yesterday and bought it on the spot. The XL slid on my head like a well worn glove. First helmet I’ve ever put on that didn’t fold my ears down where I had to reach in and push them up! And it’s a comfortable snug fit. Quietness is the same. But the Shoei fits and my eyes are in the middle of the visor and not way up top because the helmet has rocked forward. I got used to that but after a two hour ride yesterday, my neck wasn’t sore with the Neotec II. It was a very comfortable ride. And yes I got the Sena com system for it too. Comes in tomorrow. I’m not slamming the E1. Just took me two years to figure out it didn’t fit me! Thanks for the video.

Champion Helmets The Sena system works really well so far. I haven’t used it talking to other riders but for playing music, making phone calls or listening to the GPS, it works great. Of course I always think the speakers could be better. I have a lot of Bose items and have become spoiled with good bass sounds, which you won’t get with this system. But the mic is fantastic. My Harley is loud but my kids all say they cannot hear the bike as we talk. I was on the interstate doing 70mph talking to my daughter yesterday and she didn’t even know I was on the Harley. And I could hear her just fine too. That’s what I use my system for so I like it. It pairs right up with my phone as soon as I turn it on, an iPhone XS. And the GPS too. I have the Garmin Zumo 660. I can not compare it to the newest Cardo units because I haven’t tried them. But it’s better than the Cardo system I had in the Schuberth E1. I had trouble with that unit from day 1. But the Sena is new too. Time will tell.

Great review! I owned both brands previously. Bought the original SCHUBERTH C4 in good faith and as you mentioned, big regrets and disappointments from its numerous flaws. What you haven’t mentioned is the actual SENA’s physical control buttons on the C4 helmet. Another big flaw, in my opinion, strictly based on how difficult it is to turn on/off with gloves on. There is a handle bar remote control available to purchase separately. Which would have been one way to get around the awkward/backward C4 on/off buttons, however ... it’s not an available option on the remote. It was a wise move by SCHUBERTH to quickly update their hugely flawed original C4. What a shame for trusting such a highly reputable company with their expensive helmet which ended up in such a disappointment. SHOEI Noetec 2 is a clear winner in this battle!

Schuberth C4 Pro weighs 3.2lbs and the Shoei Neotec 2 weights 4.2lbs. Feel both helmets, the C4 is clearly lighter. Not sure how you got that they are the same weight unless you're comparing a larger C4 helmet. Also, I'd try the noise test at 60mph for noise isolation. Something tells me the C4 is superior in that regard....and not only because it has the better lining.

Good afternoon! I have Harley Davidson 2019 Fatboy. And i want to choose between Shoei Gt Air 2 black colour and Schuberth C4 pro carbon tempest white. What can you recommend, what are the main differences between them? Which one is more comfortable and better visibility. Because i live in Cyprus, internal sun shield is also very important, which helmet has better sun shield? Are you do delivery in Europe? Thanks in advance
@Kornholeeoo

I have a 2017 FatBoy S with tuned V&H Big Shots. LOUD! I had the Schuberth for the past two years. Still needed ear plugs. I have the Neotec II now and it’s the same as far as needing ear plugs. Now with stock pipes you should be good with either. The Schuberth feels plastic. The Neotec is solid. I highly recommend trying both on before you buy. The Neotec fit me like a glove. Perfect. I had to size up with the Schuberth. But it was the E1 which is the C3 Pro with the sun visor for Adventure riders. Like a baseball cap. The internal sun visor on both work fantastic but the Shoei comes down just a tad more than the Schuberth. The com system in both are better now. The C3 Pro used a neck roll for the com system and it was super hard on the neck. The C4 Pro has a system like the Shoei now so it should be better. They are comparatively similar but it all comes down to which one fits your head. I highly recommend that when you try one on, take out both cheek pads and try it on so you can see how it fits your cranium. Cheek pads tend to make the helmet fit tighter and you might want to size up when it’s not needed. You really want your head to slip in the cranium part with just the slightest pressure. And I mean very slight. If you can wiggle it, it’s too big. If it slips right in, bingo! Then put the cheek pads back in and see how that feels. But if all you can do is buy online, make sure they have a good exchange.policy to swap sizes. So in functionality, they are both great but to me, the Shoei feels like higher quality and it fit my head perfectly. I never knew just how bad the Schuberth fit me until I tried the Neotec II which I bought on the spot after trying it on. But others like the feel of the C4 Pro better. So try them on if you can. Neotec II helmets are all over the place here in the USA. Never saw a Schuberth in a store here ever. Hope this helps! Good luck and ride safe!

@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! It would mainly depend on how far you want to go in removing the system. The speakers are attached with velcro, but the issue comes from the fact that the wires run directly into the EPS. So, you should in theory still be able to attach a Cardo system, but it will take a bit of creativity. What do you think of the Schuberth and the Shoei?
@briannorwell202

@@Championhelmets I like them both for different reasons. The Shoei seems to have this all encompassing feel with the Shoei touching my entire head, while with the Schuberth, I can feel the different pads. Not uncomfortable, just different. Both are similar in how quiet they are. In spite of the Schuberth having an additional European certification, it feels lighter on the head and much smaller when on. Less wind buffeting with the Schuberth however, less airflow through the helmet. Two identical photos of me sitting on my bike, one with each helmet, has the Shoei looking "eggy" and visually, less attractive. Off topic....my fave is still my (full face)Signet X. It's like wearing a comfort blanket for the head.

Unfortunately, I have little to no choice. The Schuberth helmets do not fit my head. Actually, there was a time when Shoei didn't make a helmet that fit my head. It is nice to know that there is a good helmet out there. I just wish that it didn't have the Sena unit custom made for it. I already have a Sena 20S and do not want to buy something else unless it is significantly louder. I wear earplugs and have difficulty hearing the output from the speakers.
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
That's a shame and head fit is sometimes one of the hardest things to find and get right. You may be able to still fit your 20S into the Schuberth C4 Pro, but it may be difficult since the helmet already comes with parts of the SC1 Advanced installed. Though it does seem like the SC1 Advanced has a higher speaker sensitivity with power output at 17.98 dBm, while the 20S comes in at 13 dBm. So, given more power, the SC1 should theoretically be able to give a stronger signal. Are you thinking of going for the Schuberth or a Shoei?

@@Championhelmets I am really quite jealous of your testers who can wear either one. I watched your video comparing five different modulars. There is no way that I could wear half of them. I haven't tried on the latest Schuberth helmets so it is possible that they have changed their headshape too. There was a time, about RF200 time, when Shoei didn't fit my head either. The same with Arai. I put up with Kiwi helmets that I would have to take a break from at least every hour and a half. Somewhere along the way, both manufacturers came out with helmets that were shaped as if fitted to my head. It is too bad that they are so expensive and require periodic replacement. Thanks!

@@alanhassall The rest of us definitely are too. For Schuberth, between the C3, C4, and C4 Pro, the head fit will be about the same at an intermediate oval, though some have found them to fit a bit more round. Good to hear that things are going a bit better for the fitment. No problem!

What about the C4 Pro Carbon ? Would love to see a real world comparison. I recently tried on a Neotec 2 and loved the way it felt on my head, I also have a 7 year old C3 which I love and have a few year old M1, thus I am somewhat drawn to Schuberth helmets. Neotec doesn't have a slick comm system like Schubby does. To be honest if I am on my sport touring Bmw or on my naked Monster even at speeds of 70MPH my wife can hear me just fine with my M1 openface using the Schubby system. @@Championhelmets if the weight diff of 200g is that noticeable and it's just as quiet as the normal C4 Pro then I would buy it. I value a quiet helmet more so than 200g difference. I have a Sena 20S on my C3 right now, and I like it. But it looks like an afterthought on the side of my helmet. I think neotec is just as light as a C4 Pro, but they Neo doesn't come with speakers or microphone built in.
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 5 жыл бұрын
Weight is something very personal but the longer you ride, generally the heavier it will feel. The Neotec and C4 Pro are pretty even in terms of weight and overall noise but the Carbon C4 Pro does have that lower weight. Both the Neotec and the C4 Pro use a similar style of com system that fits into the shell. So you don't have to worry about something bulky sticking off of the side. Yeah, you have to put the speakers and mic of the Neotec in yourself, though I can say from experience that it isn't difficult. There are a lot of similarities between the 2 helmets

Hey! I know this video is 1 year old already but I'm trying to choose a helmet for my Girlfriend. She really enjoys the c4 pro but I already have a neotec 2. This wouldn't be a problem if the c4 pro didn't bring a intercom system already pre installed... I've been reading and apparently, the SC1 can be paired with any sena intercom which would be great as I could just get an SRL2 for my neotec... But I still think a cardo freecom 4+ duo pack would be better... I just don't know if I can manage to fit it in the c4 pro... Any thoughts? Thanks!
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
As far as the communication systems in the Schuberth go, there are a few options depending on where you'd want to go. One would be to take a look at the C4 Basic, which is the C4 Pro but without the comms. system built in. However, this comes with the trade off that there are fewer colors and graphics to choose from. As far as the C4 Pro and the Cardo Freecom 4+ go, there shouldn't be any problems with mounting the system. The Schuberth's speaker pockets, even with the integrated speakers, are large and deep to accommodate the JBL speakers. The only thing to keep in mind is that you would have to use the glue plate since the bottom lip is too wide for the Freecome 4+'s clamp. It may be a bit more tricky than most helmets, but it should still be possible. If you'd rather not use a glue plate on a helmet, then the SC1 Advanced would be the best way to go, since it's just plug and play. What did you think on how the Schuberth and the Shoei stacked up?
