Your view of the animal kingdom seems overly romanticized to me. But the Bible says this about human nature: (Jeremiah 17:9) 'The heart is deceitful beyond all else, and is desperately sick; who can understand it?' The madness was 'allowed to happen'? The madness has been within us since our first parents gave in to the wily arguments of satan. And if you do not consider Hamas' actions on Oct. 7th as madness, you must be mad yourself. I do not believe that Mr. Schumer's comments would have been more 'timely' at an earlier occasion, because the longer Netanyahu's policies are seen as futile, the more such remarks seem to carry weight. Besides, what he says reflects pretty closely the views of the Biden administration, also a fair portion of the Israeli public. They are hardly original. Also Mr. Schumer, though he means well, has no authority to order regime change in Israel. Previous US efforts to force regime change in other countries have generally produced very bad results. Granted, Mr. Schumer is proposing that it be done 'democratically', which is better than having the CIA engineer a coup, as was done in the old days. A two-state solution sounds excellent in theory, but so long as a large portion of the Arab-Palestinian population cannot tolerate having Jews as their neighbors, and rejoices openly when they are murdered, it cannot produce lasting peace. The proverbial fly in the ointment is that this hatred is unrelenting; it does not go away when Israel makes concessions. We know this because Israel made many concessions in the past but remained just as vulnerable to Palestinian terrorism. This is how the Right was able to gain the upper hand in Israeli politics. Peace (shalom) requires mutual forgiveness and reconciliation. Without these things, no political arrangement will be anything more than a stopgap measure, a lid on top of a pot of boiling water. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Who is consulting with Him? I'm not even sure that most Palestinian Christians are doing that. It's all too easy to get sucked up in the whirlwind of nationalist rhetoric. What did they do? They 'canceled' Christmas at Bethlehem in the West Bank. I don't know who gained by this, but we know who lost-----------local Palestinian businesses.

Correct, but Mr. Schumer DID identify far-Right Israeli settlers as one of the four major sources of conflict. I think there are others which he neglected to mention, such as persistent anti-Israeli bias at the UN, or the malign influence of the Moscow-Tehran-Beijing Axis, which is currently the #1 neocolonialist and imperialist threat to international stability. I would also remind you that Hamas is quite active and influential in parts of the West Bank. While settlers have been able to work their will in defiance of Israeli law, there has been a deep well of anti-Jewish hatred among Arab muslims since the period of the British mandate. Quite simply, Arabs in the West Bank have been a SOURCE of violent extremism and not only victims of it. Do you know this Scripture? (Romans 3:23) 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' Or: (1st John 1:8) 'If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth id not in us.' Many kinds of victims deserve sympathy and recognition of their suffering. But victimhood per se does not make a person righteous. We have a major problem when the victim or alleged victim turns around and becomes an oppressor.

South Africa is just riding the train of political correctness. At least the doctors DID something brave and commendable. The Houthis are a bunch of vagabonds who have access to expensive weapons. I don't know about the others, but #1 and #3 are clients of the Moscow-Tehran-Beijing-Pyongyang Axis. Donald Trump seems to be leaning in that direction, too, which must make Mr. Finkelstein very happy. It amazes me how the genocidal programme and nature of Hamas bypasses so many people who accuse Israel of committing this 'greatest of crimes'. Who has robbed them of elementary powers of rational, let alone moral discernment? It's not hard to tell, if one proceeds from the principle: 'fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom'. Yes, Satan is 'god of this world', 'prince fof the power of the air'. His agenda is to rob, kill, and destroy. He blindfolds those he requires for his service. Some he blinds to his very existence. Others he convinces that they are paragons of virtue, on a holy mission, when they are only indulging their natural passions! hamas Not only did Hamas massacred Israeli civilians and subjected them to the most disgusting forms of abuse imaginable. They also imposed on their own people a war which they knew in advance would prove catastrophic for them. Hamas reminds me of the late Kim Jong-il, previous dictator of North Korea, who remarked that a loss of 70 percent of his country's population would be acceptable, provided that the regime survived. Under his watch, millions of North Kotreans probably did perish from hunger, and the situation is ongoing. Of course few pay attention, nor do they pay attention to the present catastrophe in Sudan, which is like Gaza magnified several times. 'Arab' Sudanese are murdering, raping, and enslaving tribal black Sudanese. But there is no response, because only Palestinians matter. Such is the power of a well-oiled propaganda machine.
