just a little anecdote regarding punctuation marks on Names in the bible.. I was teaching the adult Sunday school class years ago.. around 2002.. or so.. and we were gong thru an old testament passage similar to the one you showed .. and my pastor at the time came up to me after class and addressed me about how I butchered a lot of the pronunciations of the names.. he said it shows right in the bible how to say the names.. and he showed me his bible.. and lo and behold the names were all punctuated.. then I showed him mine.. which the names were Not.. and he apologized.. but suggested that I start teaching from a bible that DOES have all the names punctuated... later when he moved on and we got a different pastor.. I switched back to an unpunctuated bible.. but sitting in the adult class.. I sometimes got frustrated.. when future teachers would just say.. "You can read those names for yourself.. I m Not going to even try to read them all.." it could be their bibles were unpunctuated as well.. I think bibles SHOULD be punctuated.. for clarity.. it could be that these teachers did not want to waste valuable class time .trying to read lists of names.. no one complained about the names not being read in class..but I believe.. those names are important and SHOULD be expounded on and clarified.. sometimes to students..

Thank you for the in-depth review, especially in the thickness difference compared to other Canterbury.

gtslow7 Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! Yes, it is noticeably thinner and lighter. It’s a good move for the 28 GSM paper!

I had to chuckle to myself in regards to pronouniated bibles... which You stated un marked ones make for a cleaner read... about 10 months ago I began attending a different church.. due to my old one closing... and the pastor was reading.. and he came across the word CHALDEANS... I was shocked to hear him pronounce it .. CHalldeans.. instead of Keldeans.... and I was thinking here is a man who has been a pastor since 1982 ? oh my goodness,.. and several teachers I have heard in this church mis pronouncing Tychichus...Aristobolus..Epaphras...I am Not claiming to be a perfectionist.. but would it hurt some teachers and the Pastor.. especially ones who have been in God's word for many years.. to try to make an effort to pronounce some of the easier Names correctly..?. perhaps it WAS a good thing to have a harsh pastor critique me at an early age in my ministry.. and walk with the Lord... because when even reading to myself.. I try to breakdown the words and Names.. so my mind is pronouncing these correctly.. I have even gone as far and in some of my pronounciated bibles.. added symbols of my own..for example I have a self pronounciating ASV 1901 bible and on the page next to the preface.. it has a small section that is titled.. KEYS TO THE SIGNS USED IN THE BIBLE...it shows 6 different ways the letter "a" can sound.. but only lists 4 different ways for the letter "e"... so I added a couple for clarity.. If I had MY WAY.. I would make the publishers make the majority of the bibles printed this way to have the self pronounciation feature.. this ....ONLY because.. so many have gotten away from these self prounoucing bibles.. they have gotten more careless.. when speaking God's word.. we need something to get people back on track again.. and help them to remember.. God's word should Not be spoken of in a callous.. I don't care manner... even if they are Just Names and Places to most.. these WORDS reresent God speaking to us...

what about ALLAN bibles.. do these have a lot of ghosting as well?...
@faithtowalkministries1322 жыл бұрын
No - Allan Bibles have heavier paper, so very nice as well.

@@faithtowalkministries132 rhank you for your response.... I found an Allan bible.. in Red Meriva Calfskin on ebay back in September 2021.. and purchased it...and this bible is a BEAUTY...I love the bible and you are correct... the heavier paper.. does prevent the ghosting.. but since I have gotten this bible I have been afraid to write in it or mark it up... most of my bibles..... the 40 - 100 dollar ones I will write in... add memo pages.. or maps.. etc.. but I am just too delicate with this one .. it is So beautiful.. I probably will just keep it as an heirloom.. for my kids or grandkids so that THEY..can mark up one day.. I just can't bring Myself to do it.....same with a Schuyler bible I puchased some time back.. I took that out of the box but I still keep it in the cellophane wrap it came in from out of the box...I unwrap it every couple of months just to look at it and feel it in my hands,..... DO I HAVE A PROBLEM..?..

Please do a video if you decide to write in this! Curious to know how it does with the thinner paper.

Nice to see that you were also able to get a regular yapp red letter Canterbury. Lord willing I will order a Canterbury in about two weeks. Improving the readability of a Bible that was already very readable is impressive. I was looking at my copy of the original 1611 and notice that it also has ornamental drop caps so the Canterbury in that way is a call out to the first printings. Lord willing I will also order a Treveris at the same time. Would be interesting to see you review the Treveris if it works out for you.

snowpuppy77 Thanks for watching! Yes, the Canterbury is very nice. I’ve been using the first printing in my every day carry wear test. I really want to start using the new Red Letter with the full yapp or regular yapp since it is much thinner and lighter, but forcing myself to continue my wear test. Would like to see the Treveris first hand as well. Maybe sometime! Thanks for watching and commenting!

What is the method for fixing the crinkle page with post it notes? Can you explain how that works?
@faithtowalkministries1324 жыл бұрын
Ryan Maes Yeah, you would stretch out the crinkle and either use archival book tape right where the crinkle is or put a post-it-note cut down to the sticky part and put it on the crinkle. The post-it adhesive is not supposed to leave any residue which would make it a safe alternative to archival book tape. Some put a few strips of post it notes on the back side of the title page to keep it from crinkling in the first place.

I would buy and give away as many bibles as I could if I hadn't lost my money.

Okay, first question for me, compared to the original Canterbury, is the font darker or about the same. The original needs to be a shade or 2 bolder. I don't want to spring for the $$$ and find it is the same boldness. What say you?
@faithtowalkministries1323 жыл бұрын
Good question. I would say it is the same with the exception that the paper is a whiter paper (not overly white, but whiter than the 36 gsm paper), which makes the print appear darker.
