I bought one of the last 36 gsm Schuyler NIV Quentels a few months ago. I’m so happy I did. I have a few with 28 gsm and it’s nice too, I just prefer the thicker paper. I love seeing a very well worn and loved Bible!! Thank-you for your review!

As a fan of Schuyler bibles, I thank you for sharing your beautiful bible, which has held up exceptionally well. I have a couple that have the 36 gsm, and they don’t call it the “brick” for nothing but I love them all the same!

The only place I would fault Schuyler Bibles is the 28 gsm paper! They need to go back to at least 32, but preferably 36 gsm.

Thanks for the tour! I really like your marginalia and the extra ribbons you added. These tomes are at their best when we grow with them. You can freshen up the leather with nivea by the way, that's how we treated leather products made after 1800 when I was an intern at a museum in college. Only the fragile or really ancient stuff received the full archival specialty treatment. It really brings the soft supple texture back out.

Good to see a Bible well used (not abused)! We should all use ours more. I have one of the thicker Quentels and a couple of the 28 gsm thinner ones, which I actually like better. I think the thinness was a good trade-off as the paper is still opaque. It was nice to see how the Quentel has held up to heavy use. Thanks and God bless.

That hinge actually didn't soften up thats why the card stock is ripping . Thats where the cover will detach on ya. They used a stiff glue or something on those to cause that hardness. Crossway had the same issue and it ruined some bibles but they will replace them for free even after many years. In my opinion that's build defect , making that so stiff that it slices that cardstock fold. Still a nice bible but they should warranty those editions that had hard edgeline hinge. Thats a lot of cash for a bible and they knew it was a problem.

I wish they still used the same paper supplier; I miss the off white or cream color paper. Would Evangelical Bible fix the page since the Bible’s are guaranteed?

The gold will last longer because the hubs on the spine are a great size to protect the gold.
