As an economy scholar, I find it insane that no one is talking about the global depression around the corner. Traditionally, car sales drop by 35%-40% during such a cycle and take years (6-8) to fully recover. Elon knows this is coming and that's why he's going full mental on the AI narrative. He's betting the house that he can solve self driving next year, something he's been saying for 8 years now. Unfortunately Tesla is not even close. Tesla has given up on its original approach and have been "cheating" by moving to manual mapping/labelling, giving the impression of improvement. In reality, FSD has barely improved when it comes to miles between critical disengagement and it still fails 95-99% of edge cases. All this is without mentioning the absence of redundancies (lidars and radars). Tesla wants to start making robotaxis in 2025, yet approval could be years if not a decade away. We haven't talked about weather conditions, FSD goes MIA when direct sunlight hits the main windshield camera and it's simply unsafe and unreliable in critical conditions (fog, heavy rain, snow, etc.). Tesla will be limited to a few geofenced areas for years to come. Folks are not going to stop buying cars any time soon. NYC has 13,000 taxis. Also supervised FSD is years from being authorized in Europe and possibly worst in China. If this occurs and I believe it will... Tesla is going back down to $75.

How wrong is Ross is and intellectual dishonest about Elon Musk/Tesla when talking about competition’s coming, he is right with the fact that the Tesla brand is not the same anymore. I own thousands of TSLA and don’t expect to sell anytime soon. Still, I own them with less pride I used to be. I loved what the Tesla does for accelerating transition to sustainable energy but Musk could act as a catalizer for Tesla and, unfortunately, he is hurting the brand. Please be honest and don’t simply say « sell you shares ». I won’t and this is not the point. Time has changed with Elon in the last 3 years…
