The Audi far outclasses the EA charging infrastructure. They need to take DC charging seriously and look at it as an integral part of the car ownership experience. Loved the review though, as always!

This is one of the videos that eventually inspired the purchase of my 2021 e-Tron Prestige Sportback late last month. After struggling with 5 yrs as aTesla owner with squential MX's (HW 1 & 2),, the difference in buying experience,, quality control, fit and finish, customer care, etc... confirms to me Audi is The Real Deal as the best upper-level EV SUV available in the US market. Despite Tesla MX & MS models offers more "Trills & Frills" tech features, battery efficiency,, OTA update, extensive charging network and others, I just could not risk again the chance of owning another Lemon. The e-Tron is more evolved, an luxury mid-size SUV fitted with an electric engine, as opposed to Tesla, historically slapping a frame, cabin, aluminum shell, wheels, etc around a battery, motors, and wheels. As a believer that no current privately-owned Tesla model made before 2021 will ever be approved for driverless use on U.S. public road,,, they did achieve a truly beneficial AutoPilot for HW2 and newer just this year. Unfortunately Audi only currently offeres a fraction of advanced Driver and Safety assistance in comparison, Just a few of the Pros of the Audi include... 1) Build Quality 2) Quiet cabin at all speeds, thanks to soundproofing from wind and road noise 3) Better balance of physical and touchscreen interface 4) Service providers acting as Owner advocates, unlike Tesla which protects the manufacturer. As I am done with my long distance travels, charging at home (currently using Tesla HPWA and adapter) works for me. What I'll never comprehend is the Model 3 & Y single horizontal "tablet" as the only interface. To each their own!!!

I agree with you on the sportback’s looks. I think Audi does the coupe suv better than anyone. I am looking forward to the Q4 E Tron sportback. I recently read it will have a 100kw/h battery pack and is based on the smaller meb platform. The sportback looks in a lighter, better handling package would be hard to beat in my opinion. Great vid Forrest.

Great video Forrest, it’s really interesting about the infrastructure problem as that’s exactly what would put me off buying an Electric car at this point, although I’m in Australia I’d envisage we’d be dealing with the exact same issue, if not worse.
@forrestsautoreviewsofficial4 жыл бұрын
Sheesh, I can’t imagine. I think the Tesla infrastructure is a massive selling point for them compared to what I have experienced. Most people already are weary about switching to electric and I can’t imagine an experience like this would give any confirmation towards their decision to go electric.
@robertsalthouse9213 жыл бұрын
I agree that the infrastructure problem absolutely needs to be tackled for EVs to take off (and thanks to Forrest for not sugar-coating the problem). For us, I am hoping that home charging should be enough (our local utility will install a charging station). We are planning to keep our 65k mileage IC car for any longer trips we plan to take (which aren't frequent).

Terrific review - thanks. We have decided to make the leap to pure EV this year but I wonder if others are also having difficulty finding cars to test drive. My impression is that auto dealers are not very excited about selling EVs - maybe because the supply is limited or perhaps the whole thing is outside dealers' comfort zone. Usually when I start looking at cars and give dealers my contact info I have to beat them off with a stick. Now I'm having trouble getting salesmen to return my calls. I live in New England.

I would Like to have seen you take a TRIFIELD Meter on that test drive and get some Electrical Smog reading inside the Cars Cabin while driving and sitting still, and accelerating. to see how high the Occupants in car are being Bathed in? that would be EF, EMF's, Magnetic Fields, Tesla Fields, Microwave fields. That would have been Important Info. That would tell me if Audi has provided any electro smog SHIELDING.

I'd trust the uk guy who bought one. Sadly problems, fogged up mirrors, no good in sun and rain inside the cabin. And. That cable. Hell wheres the german engineering at? The charging cable should be integrated in some kind of loop, under the hood or elsewhere , not with 2hoods to open. It should pull out smoothly.

Thank you for your insight regarding EA (seems like all companies with those initials are hot garbage). VW needs to get its act together if they are pitching the complementary 1000 hours of electric charging as a perk for this vehicle.
@bavariancarenthusiast27224 жыл бұрын
What about the Supercharging infrastructure in the US? EA only? No other network building up? We have several competing networks here, often provided by the local utility companies or even Oil companies.
@MrAlfable4 жыл бұрын
ChargePoint and EVGo are building up some amount of DC fast chargers as well, but EA is currently the most prolific and ambitious, due in no small part to its efforts being mandated as a result of VWs dieselgate penalties (EA is a VW company).

Value for money?... the etron sportback starts at 77k. The equivalent sized tesla model Y starts at 50k... with more range, faster charging, a better charging network, and quicker acceleration. You can enjoy the audi as a fan no doubt but its clear which is the value option.

After what I saw yesterday with the Hummer, $112K seems like a good value compared to $90K for this. The Hummer can do 100% of what this can, while this can only do about 40% of what a Hummer can (and the Hummer has much better range). Just wait a few months and buy the Hummer...

@@Plex86 230 miles is inadequate because of winter range loss and you typically wouldn't want to drive it below 10%. So you have 207 miles best case in summer if you do below 70mph and in winter 150 miles. And then when you have to charge it is quite tricky bc 3rd party stations have been unreliable.
