If you read the book, you’d know that Paul is slightly built and not physically imposing. His strength lies in his intelligence, speed , agility and charisma. Chalamet is perfect for the role. And if you’re gonna question Chalamet’s physical presence, then you might as well doubt skinny Zendaya’s ability to dominate her fight scenes. Or Butler and Brolin who beat up on the much bigger Bautista. Also, it’s Chalamet, not Chamalet.

As we noted, we haven’t read the books so our reference point is only what we saw on screen. That said, he’s perfect for the role, he plays a great prince and boy to man, but in terms of strong leader presence onscreen, it felt we were just supposed to accept it because he was The Messiah or it was written, rather than because he had those strong leadership qualities that we’ve seen in movies before but I will say, maybe that’s just our bias as that’s all we’ve been shown in movies/shows in the past. It’s no knock on Tim’s acting or performance at all just a takeaway we had. Brolin, Butler and Bautista actually tend to fit that stereotypical role perfectly. Yeah apologies, I blame to much Pokémon and Charmander for the mispronunciation..

@NCUTcinematicproduction You guys probably hit the nail in the head in your video, it's probably an unconscious bias due to his physical nature that he can't be viewed as the KH. As a book reader, I knew he was perfect for the 15yr old at the beginning of the story, and I had doubt whether he could be a charismatic leader at the end (18yr old in the books) when the project was announced. For me he nailed the war council scene and the end of the film made me believe he's that dangerous leader.

@@NCUTcinematicproduction, you wrote: _"it felt we were just supposed to accept it because he was The Messiah or it was written"._ Well, that was exactly Herbert's intention. Also, why do you need a body builder? His acting showed a surprisingly strong leadership presence, if not only for the fact that in the story, he conformed to all check marks in order to be considered as their leader (via religious manipulation). Your cultural or personal bias considering the size as a major qualification factor, should not try to impose itself: if that was the main survival criteria for human beings, than we would be extinct since ages and the Polar Bear would be the dominant mammal on the planet... One example: why do you think that French or Canadian solders are super efficient compared to US's solders ? One main reason: when you have a gun, it's not the muscles that count, it's your stamina/endurance/agility and ability to move fast. However, US soldiers would be great at carrying heavy equipment and mounting the tents for FR/CAN soldiers ;-P

@@wathsi99 that council scene was brilliant, it makes a lot of sense now that he’s supposed to be 18 years old, in terms of that then Tim is actually perfect for the role even more now

@@HawkFestAs we said, it’s our own bias built up by hollywoods years and years of the bodybuilder action hero/leader. I will say it’s interesting to note how many historical leaders of the past were smaller in stature and not these huge muscular guys like we see in the movies so his portrayal is more common than not and probably historically accurate. We hadn’t read the source material but it’s good to hear that Denis Villeneuve was honest to it with the way he had Timothy acting and what Paul went through to become who he is
