With Earth on the brink of an inexorable alien invasion, can one desperate young girl call for help before its too late?
"Cover Your Eyes" by Simon Alveranga
#DUST #scifi #shortfilm
More About Cover Your Eyes:
The story opens with our protagonist witnessing the beginnings of first contact. Next, we see her running through the woods in an effort to stay hidden from the multiplying alien force.
As night falls over the forest she is hiding in we learn more about what has brought her to this place. She explains that her father learnt too much about the visitors and now he has gone.
We watch as she builds a fire and prepares herself for an ancient ceremony of communication. She explains that thanks to our obsession with the material we were defenceless against the alien visitors. By neglecting our spiritual development we failed to take our place amongst the real Galactic Community.
As the film concludes we see her begin the ceremony. She is alone, desperate and feels stupid but she has to try to get through before Earth is lost. As the ceremony develops something begins to happen.

I thought that for a second as well But if you allow yrshelf loose ( and with this specific visual angle)/and the crescent sound, absorbing your 'inner self',ya might begin to feel this transformation taking place, it's as if she is attempting to "get out off her body" and carry a larger message across space & time Note: In my own understanding, I kinda think, that's the key..spiruatility ~ wisdom + inner balance, thus giving us a leverage from our primal instincts, thus enabling us to find a different way out of this mess we (collectively in this films hypothesis) 'are into... Yes, that's a common theme in European produced films (and KZbin and getting more prevalent in USA in the last 10 years.). All the way back to Doctor Who 1963 and older. It's like, "hey we took all this time to choose a track or SFX, gotta make sure people can hear them." It really is a pity cause Dialogue drives the story.

@@PoeLemic That's what I had to do. Between the music and her accent I had a very hard time understanding what she was saying. Then I turned on closed caption and watched it again. I finally understood it! I really have no idea why some producers think that music should be so loud. If you have to have music then play in quietly in the background.
@poelemic3642
@poelemic3642 3 жыл бұрын
@@Octoberfurst Yes, thanks for agreeing. I remember loving this video, but it was just a little harder to enjoy it. Because I like the music in a more subtle background sound, unless (of course) it's a Broadway Production or something. But I just think they didn't realize how the accent and loud sound would work for an international audience. Yet, the main point is that they have great writing, ability to do good story, etc. So next production, I think, they'll fix it, is my guess.

Sci-fi short - comments by Jan Beware of spoilers! Cover Your Eyes by Simon Alveranga Plot: girl tries to communicate with the better aliens who did not arrive Negatives: 1) I do not know, maybe a little longer with some story and plot twist would be better? What about more telling why the ancient rituals would work? 2) I did not find the music disturbing the narration, but it could be a little bit quieter Positives: it has a good potential, with the rituals and also birds were interesting Personal note: “They are not sending us their best people” (Donald the Liaison) Summary: really short short, so not much of story telling, more like a teaser
