Thanks. A great horror comedy. Cast were superb. I really liked the nods to the great H.P., and not forgetting Cthulu. Laughed out loud when she gets wrong for swearing as she's about to be sacrificed.

Thank you for showing us what a REAL story story is supposed to have: a beginning, a middle, and an ending. No need to wonder about what happened to get them to this point because the dialogue told us. Moreover, I wasn't left wanting more because all that mattered was her getting away from the monster (the real one and her mother). Thank you for giving us this great short film.

The door opening at 8:43 feels like og Stranger Things, so strong! I want to say the feeling was nostalgic but that series is only 8 years old. Idk it just scratched the right part of my brain. And the boy scouts hand shake arm grab at 10:17 with the musical score and purple galaxy felt very Marvel, in a good way! And that Monk with the mustache.....!!! I mean can we get Monk Of The Year going at the Oscars! The acting, the chuckling, the way he took that elbow to the ribs, he did his own stunts too?! And the way he floated in space, I mean I don't think Sandra Bullock even floated that well.

Thank you so much! We filmed it within two weekends in March of 2023 and it was finished February of 2024, (with all the FXs and the edit mostly done by me). Religious people can be scary
@scottmartin77173 ай бұрын
So can secular people. IMO I'd rather have everyone be genuinely religious, at least they have something to fear for their actions on this planet. (I'm not arguing the existence of God or anything, just saying on a macro level)
@Gotanewcaseofcrabs3 ай бұрын
@@scottmartin7717 Why would anyone need to fear in a god in order to, in your words, ‘fear for their actions on this planet’? Have you heard of Secular Humanism? All we care about and live by is embracing human reason, logic, and naturalism, while rejecting religious dogma, which IS ran by fear. As a small scale production on a “ham sandwich” budget, this was okay. It was funny how they kept getting annoyed at her cussing. Like, what does that matter in the grand scheme of things? You’ve got a cosmic horror in your wardrobe! What? Will it melt if I do a rendition of George Carlson’s “words you can’t say on TV”?

I appreciate creating real lovecraftian horror is deceptively hard, and this is a comedy horror, but even so I don’t think this really hit the mark. The dialogue is fine, although the intro sort of pushes context a bit unnaturally, and it’s pretty cliche heavy, especially with the joke styles E.G: the hooded men also saying don’t swear. The plot conceptually is ok, I would go as far as saying great until the cosmic entity is unleashed, where it kinda then falls from cosmic horror towards a more analog monster in a closet. Regardless of anything else, such as the underlaying family vs friends message, I’d say this could be best improved by better denoting the mental effect a lovecraftian monster has on anything that sees it. She shouldn’t be able to witness something like that, only to then stand with her back to it passively for a minute to confront her mother…. There’s no dread

As a gay person, I'm not sure if this is simple pandering, if it's a case of pandering and copy-cat production, or something worse. What I do know for sure is it contains nothing that elevates Lovecraft lore or the the broader sci-fi genre and therefore is interloping at best, at worst this could be part of the broader attempt at destroying any works made prior to modern liberal social constructs. The latter is what this seems to be attempting with its use of two typical villains; parents and religion. Adding gay characters isn't bad in-and-of itself, we are after all members of society. It becomes toxic if the only reason we are written in is to be a gay character, as if that is all we are, to shove us in the forefront simply to upset people, or to make up for some perceived past harm done to us. If we are going to be taken seriously we need to behave seriously, not go rewriting ourselves inappropriately into past stories but write ourselves into a fresh, new future as productive, serious members of society. So far we aren't doing so well at this, Star Trek Discovery and Star Wars Acolyte are two examples where our inclusion was done so badly it harmed not only those franchises but our acceptance in general. We can and should do better, for ourselves, society at-large, sci-fi, and the future.
@alexmac663 ай бұрын
Lovecraftian Horror is supposed to make you go insane and usually ends up with your death or insane. Not a true Lovecraftian tale as the lovers get away from the threat....True Lovercraftian horror would have had one or both dying to try save the World and still failing. Made the God look weak. This is more pandering IMO
