Please enjoy the film here on DUST. It’s a great opportunity to have the millions of DUST fans also share their thoughts and experiences. It’s a strange new world we live in where time is elastic and losing its linearity. Or maybe it’s because today is Groundhog Day and we are caught in a loop… … loop … … loop … …

Yes, an older piece but still great, watched it again thank you.
@whooleeoh162 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's an oldie. My only issue is, while the theme is old & the outcome is predictable & yes, I'm sure it costs a bundle to even consider a full movie or miniseries or something, I guess it would be nice to see these shorts grow into something more. I've only seen a cpl or so come out of here into a full movie, There was that one, I think it was called Eight or something, the one about some folks w powers & how they're used as cheap labor bc they're supposed to be registered or something? It's been awhile. Remember "Tree House Time Machine" or something like that? That would've been great to see that as a full movie. Instead, we get producers & writers that either push political correctness that's so obviously in your face that it defies normalcy, & they get the nod, or companies who completely miss the ball, like the demise of Firefly. Or, on the fan side of things, you get purists who just can't let go of books & complain so much about how a movie veered off the Holy Grail Trail of the book's storyline that all hopes for a series end before the movies even exits its theatrical release. To you folx I'll say what I've said for decades. It's extremely rare to see a movie from a book that sticks even mostly to the storyline. Whether it's bc of time constraints or the producer's or director's style or simply the Hollywood effect that somehow it's like some unwritten law that they HAVE to Hollywoodize a movie somewhere's along the line, I don't know. But instead of going to a movie w a preplanned fail mindset, howabout trying to 4get the book & just enjoy the movie for what it is, a different view of a story. I would've liked to have seen I Am Number Four or Jupiter Ascending or John Carter or others all the way thru. So what if it doesn't keep strictly to the book. At least we'd get to see the whole thing &.hey, maybe enjoy a different view. I remember when I volunteered at Creation Fest West around 2007 I think w some friends. Chronicles of Narnia was about to be done... again. Some of the staff... I 4got if they were directors or whatever, they had something to do with it & were out there to promote it. Anyways I asked if they were going to produce the whole series this time or was it just going to be the std 3 & out again. "That's our intention." The rest is history. Now I've never read any Harry Potter books. But is someone going to tell me that the movies stayed 100% w the books? Bc for 1 it's simply impossible to cram a book that size into a 2-3 hr movie. Maybe they stayed close enuff to soothe the purists' minds. Or maybe it didn't matter bc they did enuff marketing of magic to make kids think they could actually do that stuff, or at least enuff to get kids to bugging their parents enuff to take them & once inside the kids minds took off & it didn't matter the storylines bc they took it hook, line & sinker. Perhaps that series got kids to do something they perhaps haven't done in awhile bc of the addiction to a flat 2D screen w buttons (granted Mr Harry had his wand on those too), & that was something we used to do as kids all the time... used their imaginations. But I'm just speaking off the top of my head. All I'm saying is there's a lot of good original ideas on Dust (or elsewhere bc yes, I've seen a nbr.of Dust shorts elsewhere b4), that would be even more awesome if turned into a full-length feature. Nuff sed.

Fantastic! Right from the start, this drops you right into a place so desperate and beaten down it makes Blade Runner 2049 look like Disney World and Half Life's City 17 look like a bastion of democracy. Sharp script, persuasive actors well directed and beautifully flowing cinematography, all underscored by a suitably tense and ominous soundtrack. This is one of those short stories that leave me wanting more. I want to know more about the Benefactors, Dawkins back story, and definitely more Bates (I like him). VERY well done production from every point of view sans one. Too much takes place in the darkness.
