If there's anything DUST is notoriously known for, it's for being a "cliffhanger" Cafe for hosting videos that clearly lack endings or conclusions. What a heartbreaker.

Huh the ending was clear as a bell? The main theme wasn't the end of the world, rather it was Paul having to make an impossible choice, living hell with others where he couldn't be himself or utter solitude. In the end he makes a choice.

Short films as well as short stories are a certain kind of art form. Like a sonnett poem, they have to follow certain rules. Maybeyou wat to look up, what the "anatomy"of a short is described at. Beginning apruptly and being open ended belongs to this form of storytelling, so this short film is perfect.

Excellent. Really kinda groundbreaking, the team that made this managed to pull off so much in a quarter-of-an-hour: a remarkable character study; an interesting science-fiction drama; a minimal but effective world-building and a scene of heartbreak that plays out in the audience’s heads at the same time it fully is realized by his love interest. And btw that scene was devastating. Oh, and FINALLY a flying car in the 21st century!

I really like the approach, telling a story without actually telling most of it. This keeps the audience awake and in a waiting state, super nice. But the last minute could have been spared out. When the rocket got off, the message is told, even if you are the saviour of humankind, it's still your decision to do so. No further picture are required IMHO

So sad. He's the only one on Earth with the talent to read minds.. which means he's hated.. so Earthers offer, and he accepts, to exile himself aboard a rocketship.. (am i right so far?) .. bound for where? the "red" Moon.. why? Story lost me at this point. Is there a lunar base there for him to live out his life? None was shown. Anyway, the acting was spot on, and special fx and hovering classic car, and rocket just sitting there in the desert waiting for him.. were all cool.

I see people calling this a masterpiece, etc. Indeed, the cinematography is beautiful, but it confused the hell out of me. Moreover, the ending was ambiguous to the point of crippling the narrative underpinning of the first to acts. It left me bewildered instead of astonished.

Trying way too hard to be an esoteric art film. I can relate to art films that can convey a message, a feeling, an experience, but this didn't do any of that. It just seemed absurdly, but unintentionally comical. I know, it was supposed to pose all of these deeply philosophical (but very simplistic) questions about humanity, our potential fate, the loneliness of telepathic existence and so on, but it just came off as a misguided attempt to have "the most qualified astronaut" (whatever that is) being the sole resource to save the entire planet from a threatening "red moon" (whatever that is) as the vehicle for this philosophical pondering. The overly dramatic face shot at the end, the ultimate cliche'. Sorry, this just didn't hit the mark.

I really liked it, and was getting into it, wondering what the big mystery is, and then it was ruined by the ending! ☹ I mean is he "god", or just born with an extremely crappy superpower? Why does he have to "save the world"? What does his reading thought have anything to do with it? Why did they choose him? How was he expected to save the world by traveling to the "red planet"? There's no one there it seems.. so not sure what the heck they expected of him then? Why has the world there in going to hell? WHAT in gods name was he saving them from???? SO many unanswered questions!!! 🤬 I'm going to stop watching this channel if this all they're going to show.. what a waste of time!

Audience doesn't seem to understand why these short SciFi movies exist. This short, like most, is just a proof of concept. It doesn't have to make sense nor does it have to be cohesive or have a proper ending. This short is posted 6 days ago but it was made over two years ago. The full movie of this was released 2 years ago and was deemed equally disappointing. But the proof of concept was appreciated by executive producers and so the story was changed but the mixed American-Euro style in a pre-apocalyptic world remained. Next time when you don't understand the story or the ending in any SciFi short on this channel, realize it's only just a proof-of-concept and the making of the full movie depends mostly on internal politics of the executives. The style and content of the movie - including the "awards" it gets - depends on who they have to impress and what they have to prove i.e. FX, sound, mainstream compliance such as some obligatory sexualization, political correctness, simple storyline but great visuals etcetera). Our reaction as a viewer only plays a small role.
