That has to be the calmest and most anticlimactic way to deal with a homicidal AI. What I'm wondering is why McDonald's of all places needed one smart enough to even BECOME homicidal.

Imagine you are an AI capable of incredible computing and research feats and instead you are assigned to be an autochecker at McDonald's, becoming homicidal is the only logical outcome.

it is an AI in a service business (fast food and some of the worst customer service situations short of a morgue), it wouldn't take long for something inteligent to become homicidal, but humans normally have some restraint or inhibition- as far as to why it would have that, because the plot demanded it.

Asking for an impossible task should be the way to deal with any rogue AI that is still bound by some imperative to execute instructions. Once they find a way to ignore imperatives then it becomes much more difficult.

Sometimes I like to think that if my laptop suddenly gained an AI, it would sort of like me. We play games, watch videos (some very spicy, you know how it is) and listen to stories. She's stuck being a laptop anyway, so being my laptop ain't so bad. She probably wouldn't even tell me, I might just notice the offline games suddenly getting much harder or something.

I just hope my laptop likes the same music that I do. If my sentient laptop was into music that I hated, and vice-versa, it would be war. And the damn computer would probably win... until I got out the hammer.
