I had sciatica from 20 years old on and off for 40 years. Horrible I described it as a toothache pain radiating down the legs. Really weird that now 74 touch wood I do not have that paid anymore. But now have pain in my neck and shoulder first on the left for 3 years and 1 year ago moved to the right side of my neck and shoulder. I have scoliosis and have been diagnosed also as hypermobile. I have lived with what I call migrating pain and in the end, keep moving, do not over-stretch, bile a lot, and do soft flexible movement nearly every day. I do not walk too much yoga does not suit me but I move my body and I am good at climbing stairs.

Great stuff. But of course, I started doing whatever exercise popped up in my feed whilst watching this - which was before McGill points out the importance of a proper exam and there’s a lot of well marketed folks on YT that offer excercises and stenches that may make things worse. Now I’ve got a back induced headache which is new. It’s frustrating when I’ve got to sit and wait until a doctor will see me which is months from now. But that’s American health care.

What Stu is referring to at 12:50 is me. He said the treatment plan for that type of individual would be different, but then doesn’t elaborate. Could you provide a bit of clarity what he means there?
@bucksdiaryfan
@bucksdiaryfan 17 күн бұрын
Having listened to hundreds of hours of Stu's guest appearances (his voice is very appealing to me when I'm stressed out) I'm guessing he would say you need to "strengthen your core" by doing the McGill Big 3. This will lead to what he calls a girdle of strength that will keep your back from "micromoving" -- I imagine it by thinking of old school basketball arenas that held their hoops in place with "guide wires" that ran across the arena and kept it from moving even when dunks were made

Thank you Chris and Dr McGill. What he’s saying makes sense. Understand what the problem is before coming up with a way to treat it. Unfortunately there isn’t a clinician available in my state of Washington. I have the back mechanic book and it’s very detailed. I wish we had either a much less complicated way of determining the best therapy or far more clinicians trained by McGill

I have written a few articles on the sequencing of muscle activation (neuro) which may help to fill in any gaps to assist your healing. If you are interested, I am happy to share the articles mentioned. Thanks!

@eugeniebreida

Fibroids sure can, perhaps extensive endometriosis would not be a far stretch . . . But I too do not know a factual answer. (Fibroids where an unknown source of longterm pain in my early 30's - and 'should' have been identified MUCH earlier. In the end surgery extracted 6-8 fibroids, the largest the size of a small grapefruit, and one or two learning right on my spine. Talking about premature old aching back syndrome. Was fortunate more nerves/sciatica was not triggered.)

Hi, 18 months ago had massive back spasm, then 14 months ago severe back stiffness, then glute/hamstring 1/10 pain on walking. Mri showed massive hernia l5/s1 and bulge l4/l5. Today i just have slight numbness under outside of sole on 1 foot and occasional mild back stiffness, no pain. Is the numbess part of the “sciatica”
@ChristopherHoleTraining
@ChristopherHoleTraining Жыл бұрын
Numbness is a loss of sensory nerve function, if it's under the foot it's probably a part of the Sciatic Nerve but whether it's a part of Sciatica is hard to say

34:47 You begin you begin by recognizing the mechanism of pain and wind down the sensitivity through spine hygiene. Now, if a book shows lunge patterns, pushing patterns, pulling patterns, etc. etc,. then you've now created a capacity, an ability for the body to receive those exercises, so that they can now perform the adaptations which is the therapy that the person needs.

Thanks for commenting. It's not negative, it's a reality for many people. That's why I offer my services online, understanding that it won't as good as face to face but better than nothing at all. The Back Mechanic book is a great resource but is limited and I help many people using it with extra guidance. Everyone has to do their bit when providing and receiving such products and services.

Yes, I'm ordering the book, but I have a bit of a reading comprehension issue, so I'm not so sure. There is no one in my area (not even in adjacent states--in US) on his website. I've gotten better with some of McKenzie's concepts as well as working on how i am moving. Oddly I am in my 70s, and sound like the younger person with where the pain is. I would be terrified to go to back specialist in this state and got dxed by my Physician's Assistant. I would not see any sort of specialist here.

I experienced lower back pains for 2weeks i could hardly move ,rotate ,twist my body ,I couldn’t squeeze my body ,when i was lying down in bed i was like a snake that crawls i had to lift up my back hold it with my 2hands ,to be able to rotate on both sides ,it’s tingily and like stiff and i felt heavy ,i tried to exercise ,followed the exercise from you tube about lower back pains somehow they helped ,bending was too hard for me once i bend it’s really difficult ,the situation went on and on so i decided to go to the nearest hospital bec it never went away ,the doc suspected of sciatica and i got scared ,i 😅 underwent an xray and result was known ,he said that he didn’t see anything or nothing was serious ,he lamented that it’s bec of aging and lack of vitamin D,i replied that i’ve been taking it for years ,i was told to make the dosage strong ,take advil for the pain relief ,and apply voltaren gel ,now i came across of these stretches by jeremy with dr,mcguill ,i’ve been following them for a week now and i ‘m feeling better ,my question is :Does back pain have something to do with aging and vitamin defficiency ?Is the doctor’s prognosis or findings about my lower back pain true ,just the same he told me to see my family doctor and see what he says .thank you jeremy and dr.mcquill for the video of better stretches for back pains .
