I refuse to believe that there are only 117 people who suffer with sciatica (Thats the number of views on this video at this time). Sharing my experience with Sciatica: I've lived with sciatica since 2003 and have had 2 extreme episodes where i couldn't even walk for atleast a day. Trigger points for me are : i. lifting moderately heavy to extremely heavy objects ii. perching on the edge of the seat for long hours without realizing it - I have a sedentary job. iii. Also, Riding motorcycle for long distances as I used to in during my late 20's. Lying down always made the pain worse for me. To take the edge off of the pain I practiced some standard stretching exercises Laying down on my the opposite side of the pain and using a medium hard pillow between my legs. - but it was more of a temporary relief to help me doze off. What really seemed to help me during the pain are a combination of heat therapy, Vajrasana and NSAID when I actually had these episodes. This would dramatically reduce the pain - or perhaps increse my pain tolerance - and put me on the path to recovery - for that episode - sooner. Practicing Vajrasana and Supta Pawanmuktasana regularly helped reduce the frequency of the episodes.

i bought stewart mcgills back mechanic and it says that when you do the sit test (sitting in chair and pulling down) with neck extension if increases symptoms that indicates an "underhooked nerve root. are you familiar with this?

Its a tougher condition. I think what he mentioned is very good advise. Not all cases are the easy ones

On the underhook? Nothing specifically that is not a research paper. You may want to consider checking out pub med or Google scholar. You would be hard pressed to find anything up substance though. Treatment plans for this sort of thing is an art form that you really should have someone assist you with. There is no cookie cutter approach

It's different for everyone. The myth going around is that sciatica is always from the same root cause. It's not. Different root causes require different pain management stratagies and different rehabilitation exercises. The good things is that sciatica is very solvable.
