Don´t really know anything about the FDA since im not american, but the European Food Safety Authority is quite good I think. Atleast I prefer things to have been tested and evaluated before I eat them, syntethic or not. The worst thing is when people just think that "natural" or "organic" means healthy, like there´s nothing in nature that´s bad for you ^^
@mmsmsy10 жыл бұрын
You didn't need FDA before it to know that something is poisonous or low quality or high quality. You know it from those food's reputation from people's opinions and research sites, books and magazines. FDA is not a problem in itself if it wouldn't deligalize healthy foods before it was approved. Many people died before some cure was tested and approved by government. And many people health is compromised just because FDA is outdated and they wait because sth isn't FDA approved yet. The power of FDA to deligalize sth is awfull. If it just gave recommendations it would be bearable, because it would just waste some public money from taxes, but when it prohibits some good foods along with some bad ones to be in the market it makes people's lives so much worse and more empty.

Mankind has spent almost its entire existence in developing food technology, yet modern man rejects it, clamoring for raw food when it was fire that liberated our diets. Fire sanitized and made foods we couldn't digest before digestible. Salt and vinegar were the first preservatives. Okra was added to gumbo as a thickener. Oil was used to make pie crusts flaky. Now, in the modern age, gum from beans keeps our ice cream in our sandwiches from melting. Yet people still reject it.......but soon, people will accept it, just as they accepted the potato.

FDA approved means it will not kill you instantly, that is all. If you look at Europe for example, where they have extremely strict rules for consumer products, this would not be allowed. For example: a product needs at least 70% coco beans for it to be allowed to be sold as chocolate. Bus in the US you can simply scam the consumer and sell them a block of marsh mellow as 'icecream'. Less quality, less cost but more profit.

Humans are not supposed to ingest so many chemicals.....and this consumption goes on for years and years....it's nuts!

Are they made of plastic? Ice cream usually begins to melt at once making a mess of your clothes, unless you buy the little individual cardboard ''tubs''.
@ArthurChen10 жыл бұрын
Well then pick one out of the two: Natural ice cream that will melt in 10 minutes when you want to cool off during hot days or engineered ice cream that will last a long time in the heat. In my opinion, people will always complain about one thing or another and you can't make everyone happy. In this case, it's a question of who the companies are willing to upset more: the people who would rather have better tasting ice cream but run the risk of melting before they finish eating it, or the people who would rather have the convenience of a hardly-melting ice cream for on-the-go but run the risk of ingesting artificial substances.

The real issue is that children are being given a lot of processed food as a "treat". The kids then equate processed food with "good job" and "well done" and "a reward" and "a special treat". This causes problems later in life with the "I reward myself for sticking to my diet." mentality, instead of "I maintained (or lost) weight, that is my reward for eating healthy" mentality. Give your children fruit as a treat, or an interactive toy, or better yet, spend time with your child.

For the lazy> mono and diglycerides are fatty acids that naturally occur in vegetable oil and animal fats (including yours), calcuim sulfate is a type of natural salt found in rocks, xanthum gum is a plant based complex sugar (polysaccharide). Guar gum is a gum found in the seed of the of Guar bean, Carob bean gum is same as the last except it comes from the seed of the Locust bean and polysorbate which is the only synthetic ingredient in there is to complicated to put into laymens terms. You can do your own research. conclusion the reason they look scary is that they are require to put the correct term for and ingredient on labels but if you take the time to look into what your reading of packages you will find out it s not so bad as you might think.

Interesting that you focused on the gums in the products and although you highlighted "carrageenan," you said mothing about it. The most sinister thing about carrageenan is, it is in almost everything that is marketed as "low fat" or "no fat." In fact, I cannot find a brand of chocolate milk that does NOT have carrageenan in it. It is an inflammatory agent and one day people will know what caused a massive amount of digestive disorders from Inflammatory Bowel Disease all the way up to and including cancer. But don't get in the way of making a buck on ice cream that doesn't melt or chocolate milk that you have to shake to reconstitute. The fact of the matter is, if you have ice cream that doesn't melt, your common sense should tell you not to eat it just as your common sense would tell you not to eat a lot of other things that are obviously not natural as these products are.
@kc507710 жыл бұрын
