no hate but i just dont like the concept of this video. all of those except for usaco bronze are achievements, whether they are smaller ones or larger ones. even though i know that your intention was just to make a fun video, i feel like a lot of people will be hurt. i know people who grind so much in high school and their highest is aime or gold. but then they see this video and their achievement is just called “decent” i know people who are stuck on bronze like you mentioned, and finally after a year of hard work they make silver. then they see this video and its just a sarcastic “congrats?” most people dont even try competitive programming, and the ones who do that start in bronze and try and start working hard should be commended. but here the category is no one cares? again i know this was not your intention. i just dont like the concept of the video because theyre all achievements at the end of the day

ya i totally get your point, I honestly did not entirely love this video either which is why i tried to focus more on my experiences than what I thought of the awards themselves but I did not realize how condescending the categories come across ig i kinda should have expected that given this is a tier list but this a very good point (i apologize if it came across as I was minimizing anybody's achievements, I personally value the work it takes to get there much more than the end result)

@@Cararra you're correct tho , coding is not an impeccable achievement, in a few year most of the people who you're in competition with will know coding ( I meant in all STEM fields)

@Jason this whole video is about Cararra's experiences, and to him this is what he felt, I'm not sure if the names of the category were meant, maybe just a template? idk. But the usaco bronze was entirely a joke, he accidently made that an option, and just wanted to joke about his mistake. This whole video is how cararra thought about it, and he even put a disclaimer out there, that he didn't want to diss anyone of their achievements. Honestly the real tier list of the achievements based on what of cararra was talking about things is, "ok", "good", "great" , "awesome", "brilliant".Also the whole point of this video was to share cararra's expiernces and what he thought about olympiads, the concept was to give insight of what he did and what he thought was easy and hard, imo its like ronaldo saying that making a goal is easy, when someone just learned how to kick a soccer ball(this isn't a good analogy, but u get the point). Also I would like to point out that cararra lit said like 10 times that he wasn't trying to diss other people achievements.

For example, p decent, isn't really p decent, lolll, its just the categories name's aren't meant but they are implied to be more than the title if u get what I mean.

lol, I was abt to ignore this video when I read the title 'Science Olympiad', but good thing I clicked on the video because it was nothing about science olympiads. btw, I think u were a bit harsh on the usaco bronze rating, but I understand why u would rate it that way

USACO Bronze has gotten way harder in recent years. Like I do practice problems from 2017-2019 and I get them all within like 3 minutes max, but the Bronze problems from 2021 onwards are way more difficult. Like this past USACO contest (my first one ever) I got all the testcases on the first problem and I could not figure out how to the second and third at all. Edit: got in contest promoted on this last contest

How did you start studying for the AMC's? When I look at an AMC10 math problem thats like between 13-25 i just have no clue how to solve it :(( I really want to make it to AIME this year (which is my last chance to take AMC10) that would be so amazing but I dont know how to approach a lot of AMC math problems

What books do you study to do well in USABO semifinals
@jomalakani25383 жыл бұрын
Cambell Bio 9th edition and up

U probs also need ravens and Vanders for semis but Campbell is what u should read first (Albert's cell bio is good too apparently, there are a lot of specific textbooks for certain areas that u're weak in)

I think placing USNCO qual on the list is somewhat pointless. The difficulty is local section specific.

kinda unrelated to the video but how do you feel about adding a new ap math course to collegeboard, ap linear algebra?
@Cararra3 жыл бұрын
lol i do not have many feelings either way but it seems kinda unnecessary to be fair I just would not want to take an extra AP anyways (otherwise I would have self studied AP psych and micro/macro loll)
@TheSupremeJalapeno3 жыл бұрын
@@Cararra yeah, that's fair. I was just thinking how in ap calc ab , bc, and stats, there are barely any proofs you need to know, and so when students go to college and when they take college-level math courses, they might struggle a lot with proofs, so ap linear algebra could potentially help teach that, or at least give an overview into proof writing
@Cararra3 жыл бұрын
dang what proofs does linear algebra have? i feel like linalg proofs are less interesting than calc proofs lol but to be fair i've never learned linalg fully if you want proofs I feel like AP discrete math is the way to go loll
@TheSupremeJalapeno3 жыл бұрын
@@Cararra Yeah ap discrete math could also be possible lol. I'm just saying that learning proofs in general, regardless of which math subject it is, is probably an important skill set for a student to have. Yeah, but basic Lin alg proofs are usually like "common sense" proofs, you know? Like "prove a matrix times the identity matrix is the matrix itself" or "prove any vector times 0 is 0". I guess calc proofs could also be taught in ap calc ab/bc, but they aren't tested in the ap test, so most students disregard them.
