This is actually pretty cool because I skateboard. I’m glad he used all the right terms like the “nose” and “tail”. And I like how he’s said that it traded the half pipe for the stage. Well done.

at 4:00 in the video it says that it was made using reclaimed skateboards. They probably did the same thing as when they made the body of the guitar and then carved and sanded it to shape.

Another good way to recycle them is using them as fire wood or shelves for a wall or put a camera tripod on it then you can film while rolling. But here in australia someone could probably make boomerangs out of old skateboards

Using old skate boards is interesting, but you can make an electric guitar body out of any old wood, even shipping crates & pallets. All it has to be is a solid hardwood of some kind that you route into shape. I suppose you would get a similar effect to this if you stacked and glued up a bunch of floor laminate.
@MasterYoshidino

It needs to be dense for "tone" so it makes sense to use boards compressed by humans that already meets the profile if not done anyway (maple).

god i can almost feel the weight of that thing. i hope he's chambering those things or doing weight relief because solid laminated rock maple sounds like hell for your back. When I was in high school my friend's dad loaned me his 1970s les paul for about a year. That thing was a dense as they come at like 12+ pounds and I can feel my shoulder just at the thought of it

Dried rock maple laminate is not that heavy. Before it's laminated, the wood is conditioned and dried extensively. I'd say it's lighter because of this reason.
@mikeischangingplaces
@mikeischangingplaces 3 жыл бұрын
@@1106Winter All tonewoods are supposed to be dried before using, although that's not always done well. Hard maple (eastern or sugar maple) is a fantastic, resonant, and very common tonewood, but it's almost never used for the body of a solid body guitar because it's so heavy. I've seen some maple-bodied Carvins (I think an old Jason Becker signature?), but it's almost unheard of, and I doubt it's even a standard option from them today (Carvin builds to customer spec on order). The stability and resonance of maple is, however, very frequently put to use in guitar necks. Common woods used for a solid body are mahogany (density used in guitars varies a lot, but is usually the densest body wood used), alder, basswood (typically the lightest), or swamp ash (typically heavier than alder but lighter than harder kinds of ash). Walnut is also pretty heavy as far as guitar woods go, and you sometimes see it used in basses (much more rarely in guitars). In any case, I'm pretty skeptical that putting that maple in a laminate won't take away the bell-like resonance that makes it so appealing as a tone wood

@@mikeischangingplaces well... We're talking about the weight. Tone wood is a myth. 😜

*WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK!!?? I was just looking through my notifications and I found THIS!? I've got a guitar, 'cause I love playing guitar and I'm just practicing, but I want one of these recycled "skateboard guitars" now! I probably can't afford one, as I'm currently only on a P.I.P. benefit of just £150 per month, for fuck's sake, but I can definitely save up for one of these if they're available soon!
