Please bring this car back and put it on a lift so we can see the special Type R suspension and chassis components! The Rear/Rear subframe pieces looks pretty darn cool in the parts diagram.

Thanks Chris. Every time I start to think about selling my low mileage, all stock 91, these types of videos change my mind. It is about the drive. Great video.

You done the ultimate sin... The master Ayrton Senna himself spent over 3 yrs in japan developing the original as well as the NSX-R. I remember waving to him and sat in the siver honda uk nsx he bought out to see friends where i live in norfolk. He visited them as he was their neighbours in his formula ford days...me and a mate used to pester him about his cars he bought there, but he was really nice as we were just kids like he was at heart loving cars

The real question is how long did it take you to get used to the RHD/shifting with your left hand. Awesome video, and very interesting to see the dyno chart (no spoilers). 👍

Not bad - the real challenge was remembering not to get into the passenger side to drive it!

In Canada, where our 15 year import law (vs. 25 year US law). There were a lot of insurance claims due to left hand turns at intersections where the RHD driver could not see on coming traffic because of the seating position. This was very early on when it was still new (the law). What happened, at least in Quebec, was that 90% of Car Insurance Companies either jacked up rates double or triple or just plain out right refused ALL RHD cars, not just sports cars, but vans, trucks, everything and anything RHD was banned. There are still a few around, but not as many as before the ban. It does makes sense. There is no way you can turn left, in heavy traffic without a passenger as your eyes when you are in the RHD driving position. Just plain scary/stupid every time you are making a left turn in traffic.

@@Onlineghost2ohm There is only one company in the Maritimes that underwrites RHD cars and all other companies here go through them. That makes RHD insurance cost very high. Some people around here are paying $2000/year for only PLPD to insure their RHD cars. Luckily we now have Hagerty, which will insure older RHD cars if you qualify. They are incredibly affordable as these cars are seen more as collectors items now.

@@Onlineghost2ohmnever underestimate the stupidity of the consumer. I drive RHD every day in the US. If someone is dumb enough to make a blind turn without being able to see what they are turning into, they would probably do equally dumb things in a LHD car. Are there situations where RHD is a minor inconvenience? Sure, but key word is minor. Meanwhile in Japan, LHD cars are sold new there as well as imported, and make up a higher percentage of cars on the road when compared to RHD cars in the US. They also have a higher average IQ. Maybe that’s the true answer as to why they don’t have the same problem..

Also can you please explain how the NSX front suspension works? Is that large forward rocker arm for toe-control under various load conditions?

I think the Spoon NSX with turbocharger is just as rare if not rarer. I read it in a 0-60 magazine years ago that Honda in Japan had some left over 0 mileage NSX’s that they were ‘donating’ to Spoon Japan for these conversions. Basically the Spoon Engineering Parts catalogue for the NSX with a turbo and related associated parts. Came with a warranty too I believe. HP was a conservative 450hp I think, hence the warranty. Only 25-45 units were build on a custom order/options list. 150,000$usd starting price. This was back in mid 2000’s, when the 0-60 magazine was a couple years old. *Brian Scotto from Hoonigan fame was the Editor-in-Chief at the time, before his RWB and before Hoonigan was just a thought in Ken Block’s mind....yeah THAT long ago. Imagine ordering a 0 mile NSX Spoon Turbo with a warranty?! After the NSX was discontinued 2 years earlier?! Haven’t seen one for sale anywhere since. Some Honda Heads probably didn’t know this car existed, probably too young to know about magazines as well....true story bro.

Another thing: it had a roof mounted snorkel that was fully functional that feed air into the rear window/intake. Probably the most instantly noticeable feature that makes it stand out from a mile away.

I love this car, but this “R” treatment was the worst ever in a Honda. They focused so much on “ weight savings” Which was really all just removing common creature comforts. What they should’ve done is pumped out more horsepower, stiffened the chassis. Bracing, exhaust, honestly probably one of the reasons why this car didn’t sell well. They just fucked it up. Very disappointing cause it looks so sick.
@gdmcgill
@gdmcgill Жыл бұрын
While you're correct in that removing creature comforts does suck, weight savings in general is a great thing in many aspects. It makes the car quicker in a straight line and around corners. Honda did actually add some chassis bracing for the NSX-R, as well as completely changed the suspension parts and tuning. In the context of driving performance, removing weight generally has more benefits than adding horsepower.

Great looking car....but even I had $250,000 to throw on a car, it would NEVER be a 280HP NSX-R no matter how fuckin rare it is lol. Sorry but these values overall for this car is WAY overinflated! I’ve driven two different models 95 and a 2001.....fun car, but not worth $80,000 to $100,000....EVER. The appropriate range for what you ACTUALLY get should roughly be in the $40,000 to $65,000 range depending on condition, mileage etc. These were priced correctly about 5-6 years ago. No reason to pay $100,000 for a 280HP NSX with an Integra interior.

Every single reviewer who's had the chance to drive this car has absolutely loved it. Why would anyone take you opinion seriously when you think this car has the interior of an integra and who may have never bought a car more expensive than a shit box EF Civic. LULZ TROLL ALERT

Are air cooled 911's from the 70's and 80's overpriced. Everyone has their opinion. I wouldnt pay that kind of money for an old 911 when u could buy a new one. The nsx was more refined and reliable than any sports car of that era. Gordon Murray owned one for 7 years. Of course the nsx wasnt evolved much after its debut and other manufacturers eventually surpassed the nsx's performance etc.. Compare the 91 nsx to any sports car from that year and most magazines declared the nsx the winner. Its simply a game changer of that era.

@Pythons-n-Pew Pews, The fact the Gen 1 NSX sells for so much more to a discriminating audience, than a mid-priced SUV proves this supercar commands sooo much more $$, just not to you. Used, well-preserved models of the S2000, a high production sports car now go for the $40k+ range you had mentioned.

WOW, if that is how you feel about the NSX-R or the NSX in general, I would hate to hear what you think about a 1957 Chevy or 1928 Duesenberg. BTW, I love my 1996 NSX!
