Really nice series! I am starting to work with Pyrex glass rods of 4mm external diameter. My problem is that the rods are 1.5 meters and I need to cut short pieces. Would the lime technique work to break these rods?

I'm sure it's obvious to the experienced, but I don't understand the purpose of wetting the scratch first. What might happen if you don't? Would anyone care to offer any insights?

By adding the water it actually reduces the strength of the glass making it easier to break. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
