While Mary was a virgin, after Jesus was born, she carried out her wifely duties with her husband Joseph, and they had several children together. After the crucifixion, you will notice Mary is not mentioned in the Bible. She was a normal woman who died a normal death. There is no reason why the Popes and Catholics made up all the stories such as she remained a virgin all of her life after Jesus was born, or of her being taken up alive into heaven, or that she is the mother of God. I’ve even heard that some Popes say that Mary’s own mother was also a virgin.
