This film has some of the best special effects ever, especially considering its time. Even this scene which I would say has probably the worst effects of the movie is still pretty solid. But what I think I would argue that is almost underrated is the acting. Everyone was phenomenal in this movie

It was already bad for 2005 standards. The problem is not the models they used, but rather, imho, the use of light. They pushed to the limit the possibilities of CG, at least we have to grant that. The problem is, good CG is that which you don’t notice and, in this scene, CG is all over the place, unfortunately.
