Even if it's not the biggest back seat, it's still bigger than the no existent S2000 backseat. You can still get good use out of that area if it's your only car: kids, groceries, track gear, umbrella, ect. I put two girls in the back of my 350Z in college; I'm sure they would have preferred the BRZ seat.

I don't know if you guys realize this (it seems that you don't, I apologize if I'm mistaken about that) but you can't compare threadwear between manufacturers. That kind of a comparison only works within one manufacturer as that rating is set from the difference between the bese test tire they use in testing and the tire that is actually being tested (one you'll buy in the store) and the formula they use for calculating it which is not the same for every manufacturer, the rating you see is the difference between the two. You can't compare 300 TW from Michelin and 300 TW from , lets say, Continental or Bridgestone (I love RE002 btw :D) cause they don't mean the same performance. But you can compare them within one manufacturer, so from one model to the next one and that's pretty much it. Any other comparison being worthy is wishful thinking. A bit more info on how they come up with the rating: The treadwear rating is based on actual testing done on a Course Monitoring Tire (CMT) and the manufacturer’s tire and run on a test track for a 400 mile test loop for a total of 7,200 miles. Each manufacturer is allowed to use their own extrapolation formula to come up with their treadwear rating, so it’s meaningless to compare treadwear ratings between manufacturers.

This battle just shows and proves what Mr Spoon has stated about Type Rs and S2000s compared to the FRS/BRZ. The BRZ is a “sporty” car but not a true sports car. It would take 3-4 times the amount of money/modifications to get it to perform at the same high level of performance as the s2000 or a type R. Now....gut the s2000, turbocharge it, and let’s see how close it is! This really shows how incredibly powerful and efficient the F series engine is. 120hp per liter. more than any other production car engine ever made in history.

You know the S2K in this video has $35,000 worth of modifications done to it, right? AND the guys say with everything done to the motor, it is putting out 260 WHP... SO not really that much different then how modified the FRS is. The FRS stock makes about 170 or less WHP, so without some form of FI, the FRS would not even be competitive to the 260 WHP of the S2K. The way the cars sit now, their power to weight ratios are fairly close.

But this was a run what you brought scenario, and seeing a 10+ year old car, pretty stock, with some minor upgrades, run a near similar lap time to a purpose built track new car, tells you what Honda brought to the game when they built this car. it was meant to drive, either on the street or the track. if this was a stock vs stock battle, its no contest the s2k would have blowing it away, but even losing this challenge, it was still a beast of a contender, and a damn blast to watch. FRS/BRZ supercharged: 280-300whp (with high possibility of blowing up at anytime) S2000 supercharged: 400whp with all-day reliability (p.s. I actually own an 86, but the S2000 is just FAR SUPERIOR in every which way possible. However, don't want to bother with the S2000 market as the prices are now getting silly for what are mostly high-mileage, used-up beaten cars)

s2k has forged internal stock. Note that s2k costs a fair bit more without even factoring in inflation I dont agree with the blowing up comment. Higher CR, and a more technical engine in terms of tuning (AVCS, etc etc) makes it more reliant on a flawless tune for reliability. 380whp stock internals Borgie EFR6258, running strong for 2 years on E85

The S2k original MSRP was about $34k - $37K in 1999. If you account for inflation, that would put the S2k at about $52k - $56k today. What is impressive is a $26k (or $17.5K in 1999) "sports" car could even compete with the S2k... even if we are talking stock vs stock or modified vs modified.

Its a stock F22 that puts out 240HP to the crank, not to the wheels. With a tune you might get 260HP, but again its not being put down on the wheels. Its all going to the crank. Unless the Engine itself has been modded with at least some cams, springs, rods, pistons, stroked crank, fuel, plus a tune then yes 260+WHP is achievable, but simply adding a CAI and Exhaust isn’t going to bump you up from stock 190-210whp to 260whp.

I am not the one stating that the S2K has 260 WHP, I am going off of the information that the presenters are saying, and all of the modification, build, and power information they are putting out. The guys that built it are saying that with all of the work they have done to the engine, it was putting out 260 WHP... SO please direct your rebuttable to them if you think they are wrong. BUT as I stated in my last comment the presenters have said they have $35,000 in modifications/upgrades to the S2k... SO NOTHING about the S2K can be considered "stock".
@jTamayo34
@jTamayo34 5 жыл бұрын
Nothing about the s2k is stock other than the Engine. I apologize for the misinformation as to when i say “stock" im only speaking in regards to the engine itself. Its possible to have obtained 260WHP with the original motor they had with the ITB’s, but after swaping it with the F22C with no internal mods other than tune it just wont put out 260WHP and i believe you're right, the presenters could give us more in depth information about both vehicles. I also believe that spending $35,000 in mods/upgrades can also be refered to engine swap, alignment, aero, tires, etc. If $35k were spent on the motor itself im sure it would be making 260whp easy, possibly even 400whp if kept N/A of course, but thats just not the case.
@chilicoke
@chilicoke 5 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it made 260whp at some point with the previous engine, if you follow the last few videos on it, it is currently running a stock AP2 motor, which they stated at even in this video is making sub 210whp.

The 86 won but barely with way more performance oriented mods. The clear winner is s2000 considering its basically street trim and barely slower.

Love it guys, but cut the roll races and change it up to a standing start. True Touge Battle style. Maybe if this becomes a style of video we see on this channel often you can start cutting the field of cars into classes, for example the s2000 might be a 250hp or less car and the FRS might be a 350hp or less car. Just some suggestions, I’m excited to see how this shapes up in the future and I hope this becomes a regular series for this channel.

I own s2k. I drove the frs. The frs is way better for daily. It has the torque for low and high. The seat is more comfortable, the inside is more roomier and the interior is a lot better. But I choose s2k when it comes down to driving aggressive. The vtec on ap2 is so satisfying.

Even though the FRS won, I'm not impressed. This is more "FRS with lots of modifications (including forced induction), gutted interior, & age difference was barely faster than a stock motor full interior s2000" i'd actually be kinda embarrassed to say they were very neck and neck.

Poop Poop ... The S2k original MSRP was about $34k - $37K in 1999. If you account for the inflation that would put the S2k at about $52k - $56k today. Making the Honda S2k more aligned with a whole different class of cars. What is impressive is a $26k (or $17.5K in 1999) "sports" car could even compete with the S2k... even if we are talking stock vs stock or modified vs modified. After all the S2k in this video is modified, intake, exhaust, suspension, aero, brakes (even though they are more street compound), wheels tires, and much more NOT stock. The engine in the S2K makes about 240 wheel, and comes with a much more aggressively geared transmission. The FRS is FI makes about 270 wheel, aftermarket aero, brakes, suspension, intake, exhaust, tires, wheels. The roll cage adds a substantial amount of weight, but improves the rigidity of the chassis and makes it safer in a roll over, then the S2K. Both have similar power to weight ratio, through the rev range, with the FRS being slightly better in the top end.

OH and I completely forgot... The Honda S2K has $35,000 worth of modifications done to it, so NO where near stock in the least... The guys that built the S2K says it has about 260 WHP with everything done to the engine.

MasterMech77 I dont know about you, but when i'm car shopping, I don't compare car prices from 10-15 years ago (Nor will I ever buy a brand new car). What people are willing to pay today is what the real market value is. Today, you can buy them for roughly the same price so I will judge them fairly. Also, I highly doubt this car has $35,000 in mods. It may be how much they spent since they got it, but there is in no way 35,000 of parts on the car. You have to remember that this car has had a new transmission and a new engine as well. That to me doesn't count as a mod, but just another OEM replacement. Also, no ITB's on the car. Talking about all this just reminds me of the classic $100,000 s2k quote from The Fast And the Furious. I agree w/ chilicoke in saying that this is now just an AP2 w/ some Aero parts, suspension, tires, & reliability mods. Besides, if you've ever worked on modifying an FRS/BRZ (Forced Induction). They are a total pain in the ass of headaches, there are constantly issues during/after the installation. Not to mention, the engine probably wont last very long because it isn't designed to be modified that way. It's only fun while it lasts. (I'm talking from experience working on friends cars). Anyways, the point im trying to make is that you can pick up a stock S2000 and have a fast, reliable, & cheap car. Those 3 words usually dont all fit in one sentence. You just cant do the same with the FRS/BRZ without a ton of money, hence why people sacrifice reliability to turbo the engine or just engine swap. I'm saying all of this from a neutral point of view, not trying to be a Honda fan boy or offend you in any way. The FRS/BRZ are GREAT cars with tons of potential!!!. Thats why they are used professionally. Forced Inducted, they are amazingly quick and nimble once they are up and running. The problem is, unless you have the cash.. it'll always be inferior to the s2000 in the real world. From what i've seen. the person w/ a stock s2000 always has more seat time / less wrenching than a Turbo'd FRS/BRZ. Unless you are into wrenching/problem solving, then I guess I don't see that too bad. In the end, these are my just my opinions. I respect yours and will keep all that you said in mind, but I will continue to stick to mine until proven otherwise.

Well I paid 16k for my mint 86 gts. And put about another 2k into tuning and header back exhaust. And the cheapest s2k, more unreliable too and convertible...are 20k. A good AP2 is 36k+, and decent AP1 is about 25k. Easily get a base model 86 for 15k. supercharge it for 7k. And it would be faster, cheaper, more reliable, modern (keyless entry), and not convertible. Uhm stop hating the 86, lol, here my 86 was 37k new, and s2k’s almost 20 years ago were 70k. No inflation adjusted. Those are straight up figures. Half the price. Lol. Compare the s2k to the 335i or 2jz Supra. Haha. That how much it was back in the day.

All these people in comment section seem to hate the FRS. I seriously hope the 2nd gen FRS/86/BRZ have a much better engine than the current generation right out of the box, also have a dedicated sports car chassis and suspension that isn't based on run of the mill Subarus.
