This channel influenced me to do a master's degree in cognitive psychology, move to another country, and make a lot of efforts because of that; but its existence reminds me that it was worth it because we really need better science and divulgation in psychology to face so many challenges we have as human beings nowadays. It saddens me to know that the channel did not have enough popularity, being that psychology is one of the topics where we need urgently more education and quality information, as PsyShow regularly does in their videos. But I am also very grateful for everything they did. People suffering from mental illness are in a more inclusive world thanks to many efforts, and this channel was certainly one of them. Thank you sincerely for everything you did!

Wow, has it really been 5 years already? Feels like just yesterday there was the vote on what topic to cover for a new channel. I'm sad to see the end of SciShow Psych but I guess it just didn't grow enough to become self-sustaining. I think I recall hearing somewhere Brit moved away from Missoula so that may have been a factor as well. Thank you to Hank, Brit, Anthony, and everyone else on the Complexly team that made this a wonderful 5 years. You've taught me a lot and I look forward to new episodes on psychology topics on the main channel. DFTBA ✌️

But every time I take a decision, the 'other one' that I did not took turns out to be right P.S. Gonna miss this channel though, it had a dedicated community that followed it. The specific plan approach might work with cigarette packaging labeling regulation. Many countries mandate the packaging to have scary pictures of lung cancer or messages that cigarettes cause cancer, but maybe having specific action items on how the buyer could stop or reduce smoking today would be more effective.

Wow! This is a great channel. May I suggest that when you post a psychological topic on the main channel that you also post it here on SciShow Psych? That way this channel lives on and it’s new content keeps people coming here, also helping your revenue in on Psych. It would seem like a paired down SciShow Psych, an active, money making channel that you aren’t actually funding.

I have found it transformative to my life to try to lean more and more into not allowing my brain the time to processes decisions and just taking SOME kind of action. Practicing mindfulness watching myself in the present moment choosing to do the action maybe even while my brain is screaming at me to stop and think about it more. It's freeing.

This is imo why visualization is important in order to get something done. If you cant even think of a concrete action plan, even if flawed or tentative, it is much harder to get the motivation to do the first step.

It is sad, that the SciShowPsych Channel is not continued, though it does not come as too much of a surprise, since there seemed to have been a change some weeks/months ago in all SciShow Channels. For example I was already missing one host, I do not know her name, who specifically was hosting episodes of the Psych Channel. My thoughts are also with her, I really enjoyed her hosting the shows! In general, I am curious as to what exactly the changes behind the scenes are, that the SciShowChannels go through. Anyways, happy holidays!

I like Canada's in between system for organ donation. Whenever you renew your license or health card, they ask you. So you have to answer the question either way and neither option is inaction. It also means you have affirmative consent for everyone who's registered. Our registration rat is 43% which is in between.

I think that the problem is not deciding to become an organ donor, but plucking up the courage to make the arrangements. To many people thinking about their own death is something that they prefer not to do, so to actually make an effort about something associated with that is a step that they prefer not to take. Here in the UK that action has been taken from me. I know that, unless I opt out, my organs are available for transplant. Now I am not concerned about thinking about my own mortality; 17 years ago I was given 48 hours to live because I was suffering viral cardiomyopathy. Since then death is something that I have thought about a number of times, so signing up to organ donation should have been easy. However, I still felt that it was a step I could not take, tempting fate and all of that. The reason why people do not opt out is not an inability to make the decision, but unwillingness to think about it, with possibly a slight fear of looking bad if you do opt out.

The study about the demographic rates of organ donators as a function of the state making each citizen a donor by default or not makes me think of a marketing strategy employed by, among others, accommodation companies. When booking a place you are told that you will have days or even weeks during which you can change your mind and get a full refund. What invariably happens to me is that I make the reservation thinking I might cancel it later on, but I never do!
