This was my best friends favorite song. When she discovered it she made me watch it about 100 times. We would dance around her house just like the video. When she was married this was her song to dance too. 2014 she passed away from liver failure. I miss her so much and every time I hear this song I think of all the dancing and happy times with her. Love you Cynthia!

Wake up in the morning With the head like "What ya' done?" This used to be the life, but I don't need another one You like cutting up and carrying on You wear them gowns So how come I feel so lonely When you're up getting down? So I'll play along When I hear that special song I'm gonna be the one who gets it right You'd better move when you're swinging around the room Looks like magic's only ours tonight But I don't feel like dancing when the old Joanna plays My heart could take a chance My two feet can't find a way You'd think that I could muster up A little soft shoe gentle sway I don't feel like dancing, no sir no dancing today I don't feel like dancing, dancing Even if I find nothing better to do Don't feel like dancing, dancing Why'd you pick a tune when I'm not in the mood? Don't feel like dancing, dancing I'd rather be home with the one in the bed Till dawn with you-u-u Cities come and cities go just like the old empires When all you do is change your clothes And call that versatile You got so many colors it'd make a blind man so confused Then why can't I keep up When you're the only thing I'd lose? So I'll just pretend that I know which way to bend I'm gonna tell the whole world that you're mine Just please understand when I see you clap your hands If you stick around I'm sure that I'll be fine But I don't feel like dancing when the old Joanna plays My heart could take a chance My two feet can't find a way You'd think that I could muster up A little soft shoe gentle sway I don't feel like dancing, no sir no dancing today I don't feel like dancing, dancing Even if I find nothing better to do Don't feel like dancing, dancing Why'd you pick a tune when I'm not in the mood? Don't feel like dancing, dancing I'd rather be home with the one in the bed Till dawn with you-u-u You can't make me dance around But your two-step makes my chest pound Just lay me down As you float away into the shimmer light But I don't feel like dancing when the old Joanna plays My heart could take a chance My two feet can't find a way You'd think that I could muster up A little soft shoe gentle sway I don't feel like dancing, no sir no dancing today I don't feel like dancing, dancing Even if I find nothing better to do Don't feel like dancing, dancing Why'd you pick a tune when I'm not in the mood? Don't feel like dancing, dancing I'd rather be home with the one in the bed Till dawn with you-u-u

Not only is the song great but every time I see the clip you have to bow for the references of movies and bands of the past. I fell in love with the song in a gay bar as I just started dancing on it and a week later it blew my mind when i saw the video clip on TV. Ever since I've been a big fan of Scissor Sisters work though I lost all my albums when moving countries.

LYRICS Wake up in the morning with a head like "What ya done?" This used to be the life but I don't need another one Good luck cuttin' nothin', carryin' on, you wear them gowns So how come I feel so lonely when you're up gettin' down? So I play along when I hear that favorite song I'm gonna be the one who gets it right You better know when you're swingin' 'round the room Looks like magic's solely yours tonight But I don't feel like dancin' when the old Joanna plays My heart could take a chance but my two feet can't find a way You think that I could muster up a little soft shoe gentle sway But I don't feel like dancin', no sir, no dancin' today Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Even if I find nothin' better to do Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Why'd you break it down when I'm not in the mood? Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Rather be home with no-one if I can't get down with you-ou-ou Cities come and cities go just like the old empires When all you do is change your clothes and call that versatile You got so many colors make a blind man so confused Then why can't I keep up when you're the only thing I lose? So I'll just pretend that I know which way to bend And I'm gonna tell the whole world that you're mine Just please understand when I see you clap your hands If you stick around I'm sure that you'll be fine But I don't feel like dancin' when the old Joanna plays My heart could take a chance but my two feet can't find a way You think that I could muster up a little soft shoe gentle sway But I don't feel like dancin', no sir, no dancin' today Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Even if I find nothin' better to do Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Why'd you break it down when I'm not in the mood? Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Rather be home with no-one if I can't get down with you-ou-ou You can't make me dance around But your two-step makes my chest pound Just lay me down As you float away into the shimmer light But I don't feel like dancin' when the old Joanna plays My heart could take a chance but my two feet can't find a way You think that I could muster up a little soft shoe gentle sway But I don't feel like dancin', no sir, no dancin' today Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Even if I find nothin' better to do Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Why'd you break it down when I'm not in the mood? Don't feel like dancin', dancin' Rather be home with the sun if I can't get down with you-ou-

As an old guy who was a child when Beatles broke out, and was never impressed by anything musical after the 1970s irruption of Queen in the musical landscape , and thought that was the last nail in the coffin of his musical receptiveness, I must say that hearing this on the radio a couple of days ago for the very first time just captivated me. This song reminds me of one off my three sons. He died this year in April 2020. Yes he was gay and he was a wonderful person and he had a lovely soul. We had for him a goodbye party not a normal funeral. When he was barried we all danced to this music in front of his grave, that was he's wish. He said often to me, when I die someday than let red roses rain on my grave and dance in front of my grave, and we did that with all our love for him. 😭💕🌈💕🌈💕🌈💕🌈💕🌈💕🌈

"Yes he was gay and he was a wonderful person and he had a lovely soul. " I wish every single person on earth , let alone parents, was generous, kind and loving like you. Your lucky boy had some treasure in his life, didn't he?

This song and the video itself really feels like something I could have dreamed up because of how nostalgically colourful it is and the psychedelic effects and choreography it has to it and just how magical it seems and the weirdness and strangeness to it because it feels like I must have watched this a few times when I was little which I did see the video itself one or two times a few times at least also on TV too. Some of it does seem like my brain could have conjured up all these magical pictures in the video in my dreams.
