By the sound of that rain, you might want to start building an ark and start loading up the machinery 2 x 2!! 😂 Nice Euro machine! You'll be drinking fancy coffees next! 😄

Haha, we've got around 200mm expected in 3 days. Not too fancy I hope🤣

I have one great shaper but I get a lot chatter think the bearings are going. Also I have extra spindles if you’re looking.
@MattFormoso8 ай бұрын
I also have a manual if you need a copy,
@DTJoinery8 ай бұрын
Blunt cutters can also cause chatter. Do you mean you have a manual for the T120?
@MattFormoso4 ай бұрын
Yea I have manual and extra spindles, including the router adapter

I have an old Stema T40 with the sliding bed (another Italian machine maybe bought out by SCM) it's got the same spindle shaft locking mechanism, it's like a handbrake cable for a push bike, which is under tension when not engaged, so you twist a knob which releases the tension and turn the spindle until the bolt slides in to knock it, once the cutter block is changed you just pull back the knob and twist it to keep it in the open position. When I got the machine the spindle wouldn't turn and I found out it was because someone tried starting it with the spindle lock in place and the bolt had bent stopping it from releasing, so it took me a while to sort that out. The machine is still in bits and the motor needs a rewind maybe because it was left running with the spindle not turning. I only paid $150 for it and I really bought it for the fence, but it would be a good machine to restore.

Yeah, I contacted my repairer about it. He said it would be well over a thousand $$ for the part, so it's not worth it. I only paid $500 for the SCM and $350 for the BEM. Since I have the pin, I'm not worried. I may try and get it fixed one day in the future.

that scm is a top quality one got one myself like that. the block system of the spindle is just a pin with a spring and u just pull that with a brake cable from the pin to the pedal i can send u some pics if you need them

That would be great. Thanks. Our email is in our channel description. Cheers.

Between the scm invisible T120 & Delta shaper, which one should i go for please? ( For a commercial store)
@DTJoinery7 ай бұрын
The T120 is a very good spindle. The Delta is also a good machine. Both are pretty similar, although I would probably select the T120 if I were choosing between the 2. In saying that, you won't go wrong with either machine, as long as they are in good working condition.
@wachiramithamo73517 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback, the SCMI is going for $3,000 while the Delta is $1,000.
@DTJoinery7 ай бұрын
@wachiramithamo7351 No worries. If they are both in the same working condition, for that price, go with the Delta. Just check the bearings are ok and nothing is wrong with it.

Thanks so much for your response & feedback. You have been so much helpful in a way you can't imagine. I was in a big dilemma. Thanks so much.

Looking forward to the BEM review - I'm (believe it or not ) doing one up at the moment.

What year model is yours? From what I can see, there are a couple of different fence arrangements on them, at least different to mine anyway.

I'm running a very old Wadkin EQ at the moment, which doesn't have a reverse function. Like you, I have a dual radius, rounding over, cutter head. To use this in reverse, I have a short 'extension lead' with one of the phases reversed in the wiring. To prevent the main shaft lock nut from opening, I have an adapted clamp that goes over the nut, at the top of the shaft. I'm setting up a more modern spindle at the moment, fortunately, this has a reverse function.
@DTJoinery8 ай бұрын
@brianmcmahon6394 That's a clever way to gain a function, a cheap alternative to a switch to reverse the polarity.

Thats an old one. Most SCM stuff I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole to press the start button. But I have used the later t 110 and 120. They are okay. The fence assemblies arent the best but they work. You can set them up as a single end tenoner if you get an aftermarket clamping cradle. Takes up less room but not as fast as a dedicated machine of course.

This one is a good machine, it's quiet and nice to use. I dont have the original fence for it, sadly. All cast iron, similar in a lot of ways to my BEM.

Seems Italian machinery always have very little info on them. The English stuff is full of identification plates. Would love a video of how you pros collect a big Heavy item such as a spindle Moulder. Thanks.
@DTJoinery8 ай бұрын
Yeah, the English stuff is pretty easily identified. I have a forklift to unload. This machine, the seller, used a chain block to lift it high enough for my truck to get under.
