I had my surgery last year on May 25, 2018 and my spine was at a 75% curvature so my surgery was considered severe. I now have two metal rods and eighteen bolts on my spine and im only fifteen :,)

Hey Jessica, great video. I had my surgery in March of this year and can relate to a lot of things you mentioned in your video. My question is, with you being so long after post-op have you ever considered getting a surgery to remove the rods? I've been reading around and heard that its a possibility and that people often feel less restricted afterwards. Im only a few months post-op but am already leaning towards wanting to get these rods out lmaoo. My back gets really tight on some days and I'm not sure if its cuz of the rods or if I push myself too much some days. That's basically my reasoning to wanting to get the rods out.

KoolAided Hey! I never really thought about getting my rods taken out since i’m fine with them being in. plus i would have to go through another surgery/recovery in order to do that :)

This may sound dumb, but my daughter is just about to turn 13 and her back curvature was at 28 degrees when last checked. Due to her growing out of her brace before a year was up, insurance wouldn't approve one until the new year. Well it's probably been about 3 months since she's been checked so I'm not sure what it's at now, but my question is this. Does a curvature have to be at least 40 degrees before surgery can be done? Even if she wears a brace and it stays at 28 degrees, I fear that her quality of life could be better if she had the surgery anyways. Is it weird to want her to have surgery rather than her possibly having problems with her back later on?

I did this surgery at age of 12 actually I don’t know what was the degree is but it was painful, I did it in USA 🇺🇸 and I like how they treated me , now I’m 20 and I’m in third year at medical school and I really want to be a surgeon when I grew up so I can treat other people and to inspire them to also my father is a pediatrician and he used to be watching me as I grew up but the scoliosis tend to become really fast progression , i have a little issue that I’m only 5.2 in height and the doctor who did my surgery recommended me leg lengthening surgery To increase my height to about 8-12 cm but I just accepted what god gives me , the first few days was bad to me as I don’t expect the pain after surgery but now I just realize that the surgery have been improved my quality of my life I’m now about 8 years post o.p. And I’m satisfied with it’s results, thank you very much for that’s videos you really inspires me as I think that it’s a rare disease and not too much people did the surgery, I like you so much, complete what you doing and try to spread it all over the youtube so you can inspire more people ❤️

the fact that she didnt reply scare me, something might happen to her there only 60% people survive a year after scoliosis surgery
@helpark5943 Жыл бұрын
@@deadchannel9033 OMG I hope not! I may not know her personally but grateful for her videos among many others with scoliosis who had surgery. Also, I’m not sure what you mean by 60% but you might be wrong, mortality for those with the surgery is less than 1%: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26693670/ plus there are videos she posted beyond the one year mark. It’s much more likely she’s busy and you’re fear-mongering

just wonder, anyone has done the surgery long time ago? does it help in long term when you get older? im 27 yo and i have 47 degree upper c curve, my doctor told it’s up to me for surgery or not
@elzadesouza88394 жыл бұрын
weilin ong you should definitely consider getting the operation because long term the curve could start to make it harder to breath or start to have negative impacts on your internal organs when you get to your old age. it’s much easier to the surgery at a young age as a opposed to doing it as an elder when their are more risks and precautions that you would have to take. if you experience back pain it will only get worse as your old age continues so note that but overall it’s up to you!
