Head outside of the ball on everything middle and leg (i.e. head stays on off stump even when the ball is straighter). Very common, of course...we all struggle with head position. Might be an idea to open up the stance...helps to center the head over middle stump, improves balance wicket to wicket. Gary Palmer talks about this a lot. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts Scolly on the relationship between stance alignment, head position, balance and bat path. No question that all of these improve with an open stance for on-side play...the challenge is getting the front shoulder around for cover drives. But with the predominance of short-format cricket these days, I'd wager that a loft down the ground or slog to cow is a bigger run-getter than a cover drive along the carpet.

Ian Bell...legend! As a Brit I’m biased, but Bell was great to watch in 2013

Good instruction. He Looks much better to me when his trigger movement is late, when trigger step was too early it’s didn’t look like it was doing anything. Do you think the trigger is like a split step in badminton, I was coached (in badminton) that it should load the legs and knees with kinetic energy from the slight jump and landing, so that you spring back and are able to push off from the ground in the direction you need to move next. Do it too early and all the spring tension disappears.

Yep, the late trigger can be used to load up energy (you'll see the exaggerated step back from power-hitters like Andre Russell, which then propels them into the step-and-hit). But it's a balancing act because if you leave it too late, your eyes will be in motion as the bowler releases the ball, and that's a batsman killer.
