I am new to the bookish world although 60 I haven't really read much these past years, bogged down by life is my excuse 🤭 However, like you I no longer want to spend time with technology but just sit and open a book and see what it brings each time. I have only just read my first classic by Jane Austen so I have many books to catch up on. So enjoy listening to recommendations etc. I have just made some very tasty oat cookies with the same idea as you. Thank you Angela 😊

I read Sherlock Holmes a couple of years ago for the first time, and I agree, the relationship between Sherlock and Watson is really interesting and fun. You have some very interesting books on your list, it will be fun to follow you as you read them. Those scones also looked very delicious :)

Hello Angela. You have inspired me to bake scones! Great book haul! I haven't read any of those, but I love Hound of the Baskerville . It is set here, where I live on Dartmoor, UK. Have a wonderful reading week

Your notebook sounds like my commonplace book. I love adding things to it I want to remember. I completely agree about needing to balance the fiction with things that allow our roots to deepen - not simply spread wider. I really enjoy Sherlock. Typical to all short story collections, some are better than others, but the dynamic between Watson and Sherlock is fascinating. Uncle Paul was just being spoken of by another booktuber. I always hesitate to pick up a book on one recommendation- so glad I'll get to add your thoughts! LOVE Mere Christianity! I read 'When I Sing...' a couple years ago (maybe April of 22?) - it wasn't what I was expecting. I'm looking forward to your thoughts. Happy weekend! Happy Reading!

The scones look delicious. I would love to make a video like that but my kitchen is so dark, I know it wouldn't have a good visual aesthetic. But your cooking clip was lovely. I love your goals! A few years back, I had a similar goal of reading rather than scrolling... and I haven't looked back. Don't get me wrong - I still spend plenty of time scrolling social media, but that little shift in habit helped me get back to reading. I just recently read The Hound of the Baskervilles as my first ever Sherlock Holmes, and I enjoyed it also. I loved Mere Christianity by C S Lewis.

I spend a fortune at the grocery store for scones but it looks fairly easy to bake and I’m sure they taste even better! 😍 Nice plans for 2024. I try to keep it easy for myself. I’m always very motivated in January but I also know that when spring comes (in Canada), I will also want to enjoy the outdoors a little more so reading will take a backseat. 52 books for me. I try to read half men, half women. I also balance my reading in French and English to a 50/50 ratio. Have a great weekend!

Nothing better than tea and scones! Black tea w/ milk. I live in the U.S. and sometimes I make my scones w/ cream and sometimes cut in the butter. Either way, YUM! I have the exact same brand jam as you! Also, the 1 cup measure looked just like mine! How funny. Wrote down some recommendations. This was fun to listen to, thank you 🙂.

Those scones look delicious!! I'm always trying to read more poetry, too! I love Elena Ferrante. I have yet to finish the quartet, and it has been a few years since I read the last one. Hopefully I can pick up where I left off without needing to go back and reread!! And I've been eyeing When I Sing Mountains Dance for a while - looking forward to hear how you like it!

You were correct first off ... scone - put some jam ON your scONe NOT scone - oh dear, I found a bone in my scone!
