It seems kinda obvious now that it was meant to be a parody -- I'm getting strong "Very Brady Movie" vibes from this, and as an outright parody this could have been a cool movie -- but when it came out, it was unfortunately marketed as a movie for kids. I was a kid at the time and I didn't know it was meant to be a parody. The adult asides flew over my head and I was just plain confused (notwithstanding, there was a /lot/ of hype for this film. My old local Barnes and Noble actually promoted this movie over LOTR). They should have marketed it as a parody geared towards young adults like the Very Brady Movie, and stuck with their original parody ideas. Then again, the Brady Bunch was easier to parody, in my opinion, because it was incredibly cheesy; Scooby Doo was a cute kid's show, though.

It seems a lot of people, especially in the comments, don't realize it, but this was actually the end of Nostalgia Critic for a long time. This review first aired in 2012 and was, as it said at the end of the video... the end. He was gone for a very long time, with Scooby Doo being his last review, however, he eventually made his triumphant return, this time, with a studio and new castmates, making Nostalgia Critic what it is today. And I, for one, couldn't be happier. Not only that they returned to making videos, but also that, when they hit a wall, so to speak, they didn't force it. They took the hiatus they needed, and came back when they were ready, to a fanbase who still loves them.

Actually, there were ghosts and monsters in the original Scooby-Doo. After the success of the show in the 1960s, Hannah Barbara did dozens of specials, movies, crossovers, continuations, and made plenty of clones of the show. Ricky Williams That’s true, but I’m talking about the Hannah Barbara ghosts. There was the movie where Shaggy was the next Werewolf for Dracula’s race, because the original Werewolf was on vacation (I know it sounds stupid, but it exists), there was Ghoul School where Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy were camp councilors for a bunch of monsters, and the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, where this monster guy had two annoying ghost henchmen. Plus, there’s all of the crossovers that Scooby and Shaggy were in, and I’m pretty sure that they met both Casper the Friendly Ghost and Harry Scary. Apparently, all Hannah Barbara cartoons exist in the same universe. Also, Marvel’s and DC’s universes exist in that same universe too.....and WWE too now

This is why it didn't make any sense; it seemed marketed as an actual PG film and was a big disappointment to me. Even before I watched it I didn't suppose I'd be seeing Scooby doing cartoon hijinks like going behind a thin tree and not showing up on the other side until he wanted to; however, then I watched it in theater... Being 10 years old, _so_ much seemed out of place. Fred's egotistical, Daphne's "done" with being a damsel in distress (OK but why the attitude about it?) and Velma feels ignored because of Fred's egomania. I had no idea why people laughed at the body swap scene with the one liner "Hey! I can look at myself naked!"

I've always thought this was a perfect last episode of the original NC. It starts to be a lot more contemplative like the second wave of reviews. Not only does it say it's an unfunny, bland movie, it addresses WHY it's such a poor reflection of the franchise and how it didn't work in the past, doesn't work now, and never will work in the future. This review was arguably the most complete and utter annihilation of a movie Nostalgia Critic had put out yet, while also focusing on the character's own needs to contemplate the state of his role in life, thus ushering in his new approach to analyzing film. I've always loved the Nostalgia Critic, but this is when he became the voice of reason he is today! And it's all in this review for, of all films, the SCOOBY DOO MOVIE! Hats off to Doug, and I'm so glad the review has continued to go on!

Here's the thing about the Scooby Doo, movie. You can't view it as an adaptation. The movie is, from beginning to end, a parody. It makes fun of every cliche and trope that fans have made fun of about the show for the last 40 years. From the jokes about Shaggy being a pot-head, to Daphne being a damsel in distress, to the hate for Scrappy-Doo. The entire movie is one long Scooby-Doo parody.

One problem I have with this review. Doug says that there was no supernatural elements in the original show. True, but if you look at many of the movies, they do include supernatural elements. Why is this movie being torn apart because IT has supernatural elements? Also, don't give me a crap response about how Doug was talking about the old series. He should have known about some of the movies at least. Like, Zombie Island, for example.

There are a few minor scenes that did get a chuckle out of me such as when Scooby finds the bag he thinks is the hamburgers he ordered and he looks up to the sky and says “Rank Rou” and when Shaggy goes on his monologue on haunted castles and Scooby acts out each of Shaggy’s pointers. The latter is probably the closet to the film being tone with the original cartoons. And it’s a neat reference to the very first episode of the original series “What a Night for a Knight”.

Phreaker1997 In my opinion, it's one of the best anime of all time. The first 8 or so episodes are a little slow, but it gets really good. It also handles time travel in a unique way, which is very refreshing to see. It you want to watch it, it's on Hulu. Also, I believe Funimation has it both subbed and dubbed on KZbin (for free), but it's age restricted. The only bad things in it really are a little bit of blood, some inappropriate language, and some nudity. It's good though, so if you have a spare few hours, I would reccomend binging it.

You have a ride dedicated to Nostalgia Critic?
@GrammarNaziAUS8 жыл бұрын
+TheRizingSon-2 Yep. It's certainly not the most thrilling ride but there are parts that are quite fun (going backwards after going up on a bumpy elevator for example).
@GrammarNaziAUS8 жыл бұрын
+Alex Taylor It's dedicated to the ride shown at that part of the movie.

+Grammar Nazi AUS I was so freaked out on that ride.

To be completely honest it isn't bad enough for me to be shit. It just messes with my perception of the original show and has many weird parts that are just awkward, weird, inconsistent etc. But it is okay.

Look, I owe you an apology because I just can't even bare to talk about how I really feel about this movie at all. Because, it's just too embarrassing for me to even bother affiliating this movie with the Scooby-Doo franchise at all.

Hell yeah! A nostalgia critic crossover with the nostalgia critic! Just what I always wanted

I dunno, I think the Nostalgia Critic is great as usual, but the Nostalgia Critic just isn't funny and drags the whole thing down. The Nostalgia Critic was okay though.

I can't believe they even got the Nostalgia Critic.

My roommates and I binge watch ALL Scooby Doo stuff all the time. Somewhat of a guilty pleasure for us lol. (Mystery incorporated is actually amazing tho)

Sisca Bailey I agree, The "Mystery Inc." Series was pretty good. Not like "Gravity Falls" good, but it was an enjoyable series.

Mystery Inc. was like the best Scooby-Doo show ever
@Gamingturtle0907 жыл бұрын
i hated it like i hate your opinion on it
@taliamason79867 жыл бұрын
Mystery Inc sucked imo. It competely contradicts the original series and has one of the most dumbest plots I have ever come across.

I miss the old freakouts. They're fun. Makes me feel better about my own misery knowing someone else is going insane. Kinda wanna give him a hug, though...

Not gonna lie, the lip syncing for the "Fred's soul in Daphne's body" scene is pretty good.

I knew it was bad to look at people naked, or let someone else see you naked, but I never knew why. Until, like, Middle School.
