In response to the previous commentator about MMA, there are over 300 styles of Silat. As a former Corrections Officer, I had a Lieutenant who has been in many martial arts magazines and was specially and hand selected by the U.S. Government for a special security team. He has also trained with special operations forces, as well as trained U.S. government operatives. He has trained in M.A. since he was about three years old. He admits the Silat is and can be one of the best forms of Martial Arts that you can find.

My grandfather and uncle (both departed) used to practice similar style of fight. Grandpa, in his youth around 1925 and uncle around 1960 used these kind of moves against local ruffians/trouble makers. Their training was in Kalaripayattu, the ancient warfare art from Kerala, South India. There are many similarities between what Guru Maul demonstrates and my family's art. Unfortunately, many youth in India and not interested in Kalaripayattu or Muay Thai (which I teach), and are into kickboxing, karate, taekwondo... Excellent Execution Guru Maul👏🙏 HARE KRISHNA!

@@xyubrixmyel2301 it is not against the rules to maim and kill in MMA. Every punch is to knock person unconscious, every submission is to maim. people break limbs, die in boxing. @@psychkick666 Then try it out. Nowadays, I don't see any attempt at eye gorging, thrachea crushing, neck or spine breaking, dislodging joints or attacks of the nerves points. Now its a game of strength and opportunity in those fight competition. Our training then was to end a fight fast to fight another in succession. Breaking bones and joints are basic fundamental, every defense is a counter attack. Every strike must be on-point. Nothing fancy but brutal. You must be willing to give abit to take all, otherwise don't fight. If you can't you are not good enough. If you met your equal, then its fun and tiring with bruises all over. They don't need to swing from the trees for a demonstration or for learning. Learning is best done without stress then add stress in later once you have become proficient and figure out where you can work the technique in. I'm all for resistance based training but you have to insert it in its right place within training. When I look at something like this, I focus on the mechanics and positioning of the technique and then I start thinking through all the different ways I might end up in that position during a scramble whether strikes or grappling. For instance, could I transition into this technique from an under / over position? If so, that would be a great set up to this throw.

I trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, In MMA world most realistic martial art . The training partner comply so the other can learned the techniques. Until you developed the muscle memory then your training partner start turning up the notch on resistance when drill or sparring. @@isaaclam1236 Yes, I trained in BJJ too. Does this martial art have live sparring like BJJ? The difference is that in BJJ is that technique is demonstrated. Then, you roll and try to apply that technique. These martial art styles, they go through these choreograph motions and that’s it: there’s no sparring.
