Skip the electric part and you can get a decent kick scooter for less than a couple of hundred bucks. They are a blast to ride, have none of the expense of maintenance problems of electric scooters, are much more eco friendly and best of all help you get and stay in good shape.

I ride a scooter for pleasure. I take my scooter to a crowded beach, not my bicycle, even though biking is a better exercise, because it is safer than a bicycle. When I start a bicycle, it usually goes zigzag first, and I have a hard time to slow down or stop without being shaky. But the scooter always goes straight, easy to slow down or stop. It's simple and easy to get off the scooter. If you ride recklessly, yes, the scooter can be dangerous, especially while you're riding, but the bicycle has the same risk. But for slow, leisurely rides in a crowded place such as a beach, it's much better and safer than the bicycle.
