THIS was an amazing adventure, the memories of which will last a lifetime. The line in the movie "Larry Crowne" with Tom Hanks where Talia states that "A MAN ON A SCOOTER CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING" rings true for you fellows. Very, very well done. An Inspiration, indeed. It speaks well, also, of the durability of the inexpensive 50 cc scooter. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Did any police bother you? Here, we can only ride 50cc on roads 35 mph and below (and NY drivers are crazy), but I would love to pull it off, somehow

@@exsleepyink One night I was camping on a hill above a small town, someone was shooting a gun in an apartment complex near by and came looking around. Once they figured out it wasn't me, they left me alone. I took the smallest roads possible. I also rode a 49cc Honda Spree from Mobile, Al to the UP of Michigan. It's funny how you come across things. My son is 10 years old and I'm starting the process of researching what is pretty much parallel to what this father and son has done. I can hear the happiness in both your voices. Have you made any trips since this? I've been in love with scooters since I was a little kid...seeing some other kids with a Yamaha Razz in the late 80's my obsession was born!

GREAT video, gents! I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of it, and was riveted. I will never look at my Chinese Lifan 110 GY-3 (Honda CT-70 clone) the same way again. I've had one in the garage for years, and just ride it around the block, thinking I don't want to get stranded anywhere if I take it too far. I also have a vintage HONDA MB5 50cc bike, which i'm contemplating taking to Alaska and back, from Ohio (not really).

Thoroughly enjoyed this video, having bought my first scooter ("Genuine Buddy 50", made in Taiwan, the motor scooter capital of the world, the "Genuine" company headquartered in Chicago), a couple of weeks ago. My scooter is a two stroke, derestricted (no speed governors), and though it's certainly not broken in yet, I coast at 45 mph, plenty good for neighborhood jaunts. I am thrilled for you that your "bikes" made it all that distance without breaking down. I sometimes get an 'arugah!" noise when I press my starter switch, and the dealer says that it is nothing to be concerned about. How, by what means that is, did you plan your trip to avoid highways with minimum speed limits above your bike's capabilities? I'd like to know that because you really have encouraged me to travel beyond my immediate neighborhood. Best wishes!

You guys really proved the quality of some of these Chinese bikes! I have been keeping up with the CT70 replicas on various forums, so was not surprised how well the SSR/Skyteam did, but was more impressed by your $100 used BMS!
@cascadesouthernmodeltrains75472 жыл бұрын
The sound you are hearing on start up is the Bendix drive starting to fail. Usually it is attached to the starter. Sometimes some light oil (wd40 or pb blaster) will cure it, but if it is too worn out the oil will prevent it from locking and thus not starting. My recommendation is get a new starter. Aside from that, awesome trip!

I am 77 been ridding from 14 years old, never owned a car. Vietnam vet have ridden 1000 CC bikes Harly's to Moto Guzzies and 30 others now ride a Kymco Like 200i and 2012 and have never looked back on those heavy bikes. These can go anywhere and mine has been super reliable and is very fun to ride. Finally in 2012 getting a wind shield for it. Kingman AZ PLan on ridding many more years. At 77 just renewed my tags for 5 more years. Beer and scooters keep me young. Of course I live in a 55 plus park and everyone thinks I am nuts, but what the hell I am having fun. A men.
