@@keelalewis629 Yep, it totally does. Plenty of herbivores eat baby birds that are lying on the ground. Just about everything eats baby birds that are lying on the ground. Baby birds are a bizarrely convenient food source. It turns out that plenty of herbivores eat meat when they get a convenient source of meat. It's probably impossible for them to constantly eat meat, but the occasional meat is perfectly fine. It might even be necessary for some herbivores. Nature is a lot more weird and disturbing than people realize.

@@user-cp3le5li1t I think the joke is that they're vegan but you catch stuff every now and then like them raising pigs in pens, requiring the show creators to clarify that they are for hunting truffles when the fans brought it up. Or fish, leading to clarification that it's for the animals (Fluttershy is shown feeding animals meat at various points) and/or living with the obligate carnivores like the Griffins (At least one of whom lives in Ponyville, issue 70 of the comic). Or pastries, leading to clarification it's vegan pastries and cakes. AFAIK nobody brought up the baby bird thing to the show writers, but you can bet this would have been similar to their response. Griffons also eat deer. Or used to. It's mentioned in the comics but has absolutely wild implications since deer are sapient creatures you can have a conversation with in universe.

Carnivores evolved into herbivory by growing longer guts or multiple stomach chambers to be able to digest tough plant cells. Digesting flesh and bones is easy compared to that, they never lost the ability to do it. Small mammals like mice and dead bodies are also eaten by deer, etc.

@@forgethought8174 15 years of veganism and none of my friends are vegan for a good reason - They are filled with toilet fillings. Veganism is only real if it comes from within and not from some lame external attempt to shock or convince you of some global morality or "The better way", it's all garbage and most vegans stop being so after around 4 years because passion, feelings and shock go numb after a while. Our world isn't vegan, the only thing that matters in life - is what carries on. Anything else is just play-pretend to matter.
