Flown a decent amount on Scoot, and as long as you know what to expect, it’s ok. We’ve done Tokyo to Sing a couple of times, both on the 787 is what’s essentially premium economy. On the Airbus planes, Sing to Bangkok is the limit for my 6’2” frame to sit in a 28” pitch seat. What we always do, however, is compare the Scoot price, with baggage (if we need it), with SQ or Thai or whatever other mainline carriers fly the route. If there’s a fare sale on one of the mainlines, often times the prices are similar to Scoot with luggage. We check Google Flights for our comparisons.

We flew Scoot from Cebu to Jeju, connecting in Singapore of course. For the price the flight was fine, we didn't expect much, but we did pay extra for "Board me First" priority boarding. The gate staff made no attempt to make that process happen until we walked to the front of the line and asked if we should be boarding first. They seemed surprised, but did let us cut the line. Then it took 3 weeks for them to find my lost bag. Would I fly Scoot again? Probably, but with everything I need in my carry-on. Thanks Kevin!

There it is, the thing aviation industry channels are talking about in relation to LCCs getting squeezed. The FFCs are coming down in price in economy to the point where flying a low cost airline is losing sense. Everybody knows BC pays for most of the flight cost. Baggage alone, meals and drinks can price an LLC to a full-fare airline cost. Also FFCs have better slots which helps with connectivity. If you have points/status with an FFC, did I mention lounges or upgrades?

Depends on the situation though. Personally I'm not chasing Star Alliance status at the moment. So if given the choice between $500 Scootplus and $500 SQ Economy... I'd choose Scoot all day everyday (probably even if I was chasing status).

Great review of my home based airline, Scoot! You pay for what you get and Scoot is decent for getting from point A to B. 2 big improvements imo are firstly, making the charging ports free to use (!) and secondly, reducing the price of the inflight menu.

At SIN the sterile area is at the gates (after security) so all your drinks brought before boarding are actually brought landside. Hence no liquid allowed through security. Not many airports run like this. It just makes it easier for SIN to not have to X-ray and screen everything in the terminal. I’ve worked in airport security over 16 years. Security in Asia as a whole is a worry. Little Ctix x-rays, little body scanners, etd machines never used, poor metal detector procedures. Ah, to play Scoot comfortably you need to know the game's quirks well. For water, bring 1 litre empty bottles into the gate, and you will never run out of water in flight (they won't stop you). SIN gates all have water dispensers. For food, you need to know which item to pick, they used to offer some exceptional food items if you know which one to order including their ice-cream, chocolate, and artisan drinks, but I think they recently removed them because they were too "high-class" and so weren't popular. You also get a fast meal service because nobody else wants to spend that money to buy on board. I remember picking the wrong items at first and they turned out to be disgusting, so it was trial and error. They also took out paid unlimited Wifi which was once offered in their early 787 years and you did not need any other entertainment on board back then (yes free flow KZbin was allowed in those days). If you pick the correct economy seat not only you pay less extra than you would expect, the experience is far better and you get plenty of space. And for certain airports with that reputation for really long queues, the priority boarding is worth every cent.

I've flown on Scoot once between Honolulu and Osaka for an absolute bargain fair of $99. I've added some ammenities like a bag and a seat in the front in the child-free-cabin which was pretty empty with a row of three for myself. Let's say Scoot flies you from A to B and that is what matters. The no own food and drink policy was stricktly enforced in the first few hours of the flight but after a while the flight attendents gave up. "According to Sinpapore law it's forbidden to consume your own food or drinks". Good luck enforcing that "law" on a flight between the USA and Japan ;)! They've tried to charge me extra for the meal and a drink. On their food menu there's a combo deal with a meal and a drink. I ordered the meal and the drink and they were charged seperately. Once I've pointed them on the combo deal with the exact same items, I've got the reply that I had to order a combo deal instead of a meal and a drink.

Can you take 15ml Nose Drops (medication for congested nose) on Scoot ? That's 15 ml liquid 😅

No, they only all liquids under 9ml or between 18 and 38ml.

I wonder if they'll be charging a separate cleaning fee if you want armrests that aren't grimy like that 😂 Echoing your thoughts on the fare differences -- I just booked a 1-hour flight on ITA, and for a refundable ticket with a checked bag, it costs literally $22 more for the business class fare. I will absolutely pay $22 for a little lounge access and a little middle-seat-blocked-off action.

If I was the CEO of Scoot. I'll model it more like FlyDubai with cheap wi-fi, An IFE screen (with some new releases locked in Premium because I'm evil), free drinks but not meals and a 31 inch seat pitch in economy. A ScootPlus would be this but with a 38 inch pitch seat and wider seats

If Scoot stop serving laksa or anything with coconut milk meals, I may consider use their service once again. Everything internally is expected for a budget airline. No frills. But that one meal ruined my flight back in 2019 on SYD-SIN. I remember almost every passenger used the lavatory with a long as queue and just imagine the odour lingered mid flight for 4 hours. Yeah, not a great experience.

Scoot is what it is. It sells you a seat to get from one place to another, which it does reliably, and if if you want any extras they're expensive. Air AsiaX sells you a seat and if you prepay the extras you want it's still economical. It's not expensive even to buy some extras on board. As an Australian can I say Jetstar does this job pretty well most of the time and the cabin crew is friendly as they are on Air Asia. So my ranking would be Air AsiaX first, Jetstar a good second and Scoot reliable but definitely third.

The worst part of Scoot is if you ever happen to experience a flight cancellation and receive “credit voucher”, the subsequent use of the voucher is strictly one time, meaning let’s say you have a $500 voucher and used $100 on your next flight booking well it turns out the remaining $400 is simply forfeited, that’s not cool at all.

lol, the sarcasm is just on another level. and I can soooo related. for similar reasons, I have decided to NEVER fly vietjet again unless my life depended on it. I know regional flights nickel and diming you to death. but most of them at least deliver after they take your money. can't say that about vietjet.

Last year when I flew Japan Airlines business class, I tried British Airways lounge, Qantas Singapore lounge and Qatar Airways lounge. Qatar by far has the most luxurious and private setting of all even though it's the smallest and everything in their menu is cook to order. BA is somewhere in the middle and if you want space, space and more space, Qantas is for you. I will try my luck with Emirates lounge this December.😂

TBH from economy viewpoint, imo Scoot is the worst lowcost airline, the only thing going for them is that you can book with them and SQ on the same itieneray, maing transfers/travels to smaller airports way easier
@rais19534 ай бұрын
It's not the worst for one reason: Scoot reliably gets you from one place to another. If you want extras avoid Scoot.
