Yes, this is exactly what I tell people once they get around 10 kyu or so. That estimating the score can help you decide if you want to play it safe and secure your victory or if you need to try something bold in an effort to turn things around.

I totally agree, as some pros may rank the strength of an AI by its ability to score more rather than to secure the win by a narrower margin like AlphaGo, the first ever AI having won all the human pros and rewritten the history in AI and Go.
