I can do a layup. But when I try to do the mikan drill, for sum reason I just suck at it!

get duct tape (clear tape will not work), then tape your right hand to your right butt cheek (as opposed to the left one), then get your @$$ into the gym and start practicing.

Dear Will and/or Tony, i've begun training for basketball and I have about 4 months to do so until tryouts, I want to increase my dexterity so I can have better handling with my left hand, I know a bit about basketball/basic things, and I can't cross it through the legs as of now and I'd like to know an effective drill to improve my handling so I can do short quick dribbles with both hands, and through the legs, thanks.
