I have 4 Harley Bentons including a CST24 in the same stunning colour. They make a good moding platforms, i have upgraded the bridge, fitted locking tuners and best of all fitted some Alnico 2 pickups to replace the edgy sounding Roswell ones. They all need a full setup to get the best out of them. I hope you enjoy playing this one, it should do well for for gig.🙂👍

My pleasure, try the original pickups and see how you find them. Played clean i found they added an edge to the sound which seems a characteristic of them. I never use any gain, so they had to go. They realy pulled all the stops out with the CST24 range compred to their other models. Harley Bentons Fusion models can give most guitars a run for their money, these are the only ones that i buy now, but the CST24 was still a great buy before the prices went up.@@stevecassidyguitar

When I was kid there were quite a few express bus services that had limited bus stops, but no longer ,I had to get a bus the other day to pick my car up from its MOT, I don't trust commercial garages to do it, I use the local council service as they don't do repairs and so have no reason to invent faults just to steal your money from you. any way getting back to the point, this bus was packed solid and I was the last legal person allowed on the bus and it was red hot, I only managed a few miles on the way to the city centre and I had to get off before I passed out, the next bus that came was exactly the same so I sat on a bench and called a cab, no way will I ever catch a bus again. I have one of these. It sounds brighter than the SC-450 Plus with the same pick-ups for two reasons: the neck PU is closer to the bridge (24 frets) and there are only two controls instead of four. The latter only affects the middle position but makes a real difference.
@stevecassidyguitar
@stevecassidyguitar Жыл бұрын
Ah! Thanks for that insight mate - that makes so much sense 😃👍 I never thought of that - I just assumed the pot values in the CST were a bit higher due to tolerance rates. On this one the coil split does work in the bridge and neck positions - or is that not what you mean? Are you taking about the load? Thanks again for sharing 😃🙏
@Leo_ofRedKeep
@Leo_ofRedKeep Жыл бұрын
@@stevecassidyguitar In middle position, if you have two volume and two tone pots in parallel, this is equivalent to having single pots of half the value. So the SC sounds as if it had 250K pots when both pick-ups are engaged.

@stevecassidyguitar Жыл бұрын
@@Leo_ofRedKeep Ah brilliant! Thanks for the education mate - that makes ALL the sense! It's a more solid design. Not cast "pot Metal" but I think it's either plated brass or steel. It's a lot heavier. John Robson did a video on his one when he had it. It was about "wolf Tones" he replaced the bridge and it sorted it out. I just took Jon's advice. When strumming without being amplified it seems to have a little more sustain. I’ve had this conversation with Don Felder. I asked him, why he also couldn’t get used to his PRS. He said, “because it’s not a Gibson Les Paul....” I will give Paul credit for caring. I sent an actual paper letter. ( I know, weird, right?? Who ever heard of actually sending a letter in the post!!) He asked me, to send it back after 20 years, for him to look at.
