The balanced scorecard is the single best tool for measuring, managing and communicating performance. The information gained from the scoring process can yield incredible insights. This 7-minute video discusses the mechanics of scoring a balanced scorecard.

For those asking how 90, 93, 84, 66% are calculated: Arithmetic progression for each case is considered 1. Target (T) = 22% is weighted as 80% & Stretch (S) = 24% is weighted 100% 24 - 22 = 2% increase in measured score is equivalent to 100 - 80 = 20% increase in weighted score i.e., every 1% measured amounts to 10% score. Hence Actual = 23% is scored as 80+10 = 90%. 2. T = 9.2 weighted 80%, S = 9.5 weighted 100% T - S = 0.3. 0.3 increase is equivalent to 20% increase in score i.e., every 0.1 amounts to 20/3 = 6.6% Hence for 9.4 which is 2 points increase = 6.6 * 2 = 13.2% increase. Hence Actual = 9.4 is scored at 80+13.2 = 93.2 ~ 93% 3. T = 90% weighted 80%, S = 95 weighted 100% T - S = 5% increase is equivalent to 20% increase in score i.e., every 1% amounts to 20/5 = 4% Hence Actual = 91% is scored as 80+4 = 84 4. T = 40 weighted 80%, S = 50 weighted 100% T - S = 10 increase is equivalent to 20 % increase in score i.e., unit score amounts to 20/10 = 2% Hence Actual = 33% is scored as 80-(7*2) = 66%

Hi, can we use this method also for reduction KPIs (like interruption duration) Want to use this for both increasing and decreasing thresholds? (Strecth and target values)

Score 90 x 30% = 27% Score 93 x 30% = 27.9% Score 84 x 20% = 16.8% Score 66 x 20% = 13.2% Prospective score = 84.9% or 85% am i right? 😄
