for those of you who didn't know, the parasite is actually the guy you played as in the prologue. remember how the guy in the prologue died to the strange goo. and that is why when you find the first weapon its actually attached to the parasite's tail. so to make the story as short as possible: the goo transformed the guy in the prologue into the human/parasite we know now.

@@babayaga9805 so, i may be incorrect but i think first guy wasn't actually himself anymore so the first guy was kind of being mind controlled but the parasite that took over the first guy, its objective was to not let you make it to the other side of the portal so human life wouldn't thrive. i think that's why in the start of the game the parasite actually helps you, but soon realized that you and it didn't have the same objective. and also i'm not positive why the parasite decided to just become an immobile creature to consume you

It actually makes horrible sense. The man just didn't know better, but he was supposed to stay in the rack, and only the pregnant vessel was meant to go thru the portal. Because as long as he's in the rack, the parasite can't really bond properly. And as long as you're in the biomechanical vessel, the parasite really has nothing to latch on to. If you look at the other figures in racks around the chamber, it's clear you're meant to surrender your flesh to fuel the collective you're about to join in mind and spirit. But the man screws up, and severs his own connection to the collective. But again: Dying world=lack of function and instruction=more failures.

I have just noticed that too by watching this video. In the first cutscene you are switching between years of distance, from the point of view of the same character. The wasteland is the past and the first part of the game, the ooze is the present and supposedly when he starts looking for someone to attach to. Also his point of view does match how you see him in the game menu.

If we go with the theory that the Parasite was actually just trying to help in some misguided way, maybe the way it kept digging into the protagonist's belly was a way to bond better with you, the fact that you're allowed to use its tail as a weapon for your own purposes could simply be because it needs you to survive, at least just for long enough. The tendrils growing on his arms and legs could have been some kind of cocooning material, perhaps that cocoon you become at the end wasn't what the parasite really wanted at first, when we see the tendrils grow, the protagonist doesn't react as much like when hes dug into, suggesting its not as painful. Maybe if you were to let the parasite run its course naturally and willingly. (I know, who would do that? XD) the cocoon the two of you would create would have been better formed and maybe it wouldn't have been as painful. when you got near the surgery machine the parasite probably just panicked and ripped you open by accident. Basically going: "OK man, I know you're mad but I'm just, OH FUCK! I'M SO SORRY! BUT YOU'RE STRESSING ME OUT!" Then when you finally rip it off yourself it basically acts like a rejected girlfriend and runs away crying, probably why it doesn't kill you there and then. Then just as you're about to achieve your goal it comes back to take its, in its own mind; righteous anger out on you and enact a 'plan B' of sorts.

Accidentally ripped you open at the operating machine?!? I guess you missed the parts where when it attacked thr player to subdue them then promptly ripped open the front of the abdomen and thrusts its hand into the open wound. Then repeated till the removal it occasionally pulls it's arms out only to start thrusting them into the chest cavity under the rib cage. Then whole reason the protagonist is not screaming during it all is they have no mouth or likely vocal capability to scream. The thing is pure parasite and any benefits it does give is to only assure it is the one that kills and absorbs you and nothing else.

I think it's the person you play as in act one. The tower blows up and you get covered in goop, and then suddenly in act 2 you're in a different place and time, and when the parasite attaches to you, you get your first gun back.

I’m starting to get a vibe from the Parasite. Looking at the ending, how the final stage resembled a large fungal tree. The way the larger face seems more at peace, while the smaller face within seemed to have resigned to their fate. The Parasite’s behavior reminds me of a woman who’s trying to kidnap a live fetus due to their inability to have a child of their own. The way they cling to the player, unwilling to let them go free even at the end. The way you benefit from it, yet you’re hurt more than you do so. The disembowelment, and stabbing it’s tail through your body, covering you with this fungal like growth is like it’s trying to remake you in its image. Once you “refused it” by separating it from you, it resolved to prevent you from escaping. During the ending you see it wrap it’s tail around your legs to prevent you from being able to get away again, now choosing to simply take over your body completely rather than letting it slowly happen. The Parasite, from what I’m gathering, represents a barren mother wanting to have a child so badly, they’d take one by force.

I dont see a cycle. The game starts from the parasites perspective. It begins showing how the first human wakes up after becoming the parasite, then lets you play until the human becomes infected and turns. It then switches perspectives to the new protagonist and the game follows that person all the way till the end, where they both fuse and can't go anywhere. That's where it ends. Nothing cycles. They're both stuck.

I believe aliens took female human embryos and mixed them with their own gene. creating humanoids which gave the planet life. though some kind of parasite took over and killed everything including wiping out all female humanoids. which the reproduction was a failure. so they created reproductive embryos in men. the robots would hold baby's in them. which you fight one in-game. the whole reproductive lore can be easily seen by all the statues of birth throughout endgame. the game is pretty crazy

@@Nbmstr2000 no, he’s right, it’s not a cycle. First scene (main menu) is a result of the first guy mutated by that liquid spilled on him in Act 1. Basically we start as the parasite wakes and sees flashbacks of his trip to the temple and his fall to the labyrinth where we start. Compare those bone like things he cracks in the very beginning of the video, when his trying to free his hand. They’re the same on the parasite. What is more, when we see how parasite takes over the player, there is a skull on the inner side of parasite which is basically the other side of the face we see in main menu.

Assuming the parasite is the prologues protagonist it would make sense that due to being gooifed in the beginning that it has become something akin to the crater creatures you face through the game in that term everything in the game is a sort of parasite and the different types of parasitism for example the player and the parasite bonding and increasing odds of survival. The theory to why it attaches to the latter protagonist could be some sort of resemblance to its original form although it is unknown what these creatures seeks to find alot of unknowns is present

I had the same thought then figured it kinda works like a loose bridge. You use your original body consciousness to "pilot" the 2nd body , but you're not genuinely that 2nd body just your perception is. Sight, feel, smell, general movement, ect. Say body #2 got shot in the head, realistically that would suck ass but I think "that end of the bridge" would collapse and you'd pop back into the original body like we saw
