I think Injustice Scorpion works well because it's totally its own thing. Most of Scorpion's costumes in the main series are iterations of his classic look, whereas Injustice fully commits to being new and different.

That's kinda what I was thinking. the Injustice costume just isn't really Scorpion. But it's very much an Injustice universe superhero take on Scorpion and the design language is consistent and unified and it isn't kitchy. That's the problem with some of the "bug inspired" ideas is that it feels kitchy and costumy in a bad way.

I might be a weirdo but MK9 Scorpion is my favorite skin. Was a fan when they brought it back in MK11. Looks great. Also Injustice Scorpion was pretty cool.

I got chills about the emotion on Scorpion's face when Hanzo died... "The Fire Gardens... They have been restored?" Genuine wonder on his face. And then actual sadness when Hanzo dies. Scorpion, the spectre who wants nothing but revenge... Was probably the most human characters in MK11. But I don't want to see D'Vorah ever again, I'm serious. She's a plot device, not a character.

I'm not a huge fan of the injustice costume, but I do love some of the ideas and themes. The reserved attachment to the physical representation of the Scorpion idea checks out. Fits in more with the superhero aesthetic. AND also makes me really want a game where scorpion uses a kusarigama. It makes so much sense.

The one thing that I really like about MK1's design philosophy is that the characters look very "real" to me in a way that MK11's didnt. Don't get me wrong, MK11 looks amazing, but MK1 characters look a lot more natural and I kind of enjoy that not every fighter is jacked or shredded. Li Mei straight up looks like a yoga instructor or runner from her body type, but then she's doing crazy scissor kicks in mid air and launching you into the air with a purple Chinese energy lion. It's almost a surprise that she's so badass based on her physical characteristics and I kind of love that. They made the characters look super appealing and realistic and let their move sets and abilities express why they're so powerful.

MK11's Scorpion somehow conveyed sadness, rage, and wonder. *Scorpion,* not Hanzo. (Hanzo looks just as good imo, but I'm stressing the spectre) An undead spectre felt like the most human character in the game. "The Fire Gardens, they have been restored?" His eyes are still dead, but the voice and expression are very much alive.

I feel that she's like that because they have only one female body mesh, so all of them have to be REALLY skinny and not look like fighters. Im kinda sad by it (though not surprised since this is the MK philosophy for a while now, of having 1 bodymesh for females, 1 for males and 1 for big body males) cause the varying body types really give variety to the cast - like some of them being better kickers, other more agile, others more bulky... With the female characters all looking like that, it gets repetitive and loses its shine. After all, you can only repeat the same trope so much before it gets stale

Jim Lee is one of my first inspirations as an artist and i love his Scorpion design, no reason to feel weird about that at all. in fact i’d argue Injustice has some of the better character designs for the super heroes themselves as well. some feel a bit over armored if you translate them to 2d but in 3d they really work for me.

I’ve always like Scorpions designs throughout the years of MK. My personal favorite design from Scorpion is MK Deception’s 1st costume. It has a lot going on and I do love the mask, the body outfit did it for me with the samurai-like outfit; the spike on his wrist personifies scorpions identity. I would give it a 8/10 MK11 scorpion design is without a doubt a 10/10🔥(Definitely looking forward to the next visual history)

About the Armageddon Scorpion. I think what threw me off about it at the time was not only was it less busy, but the outfit just seemed too smooth and had different lighting or saturation, not sure how to properly describe it. Compared to the rest of the kombat kast with their detailed outfits, it was out of place with its simplicity. As an aside, I loved his alt in Deadly Alliance.

Looking at your videos, I'm in a mindset at the moment where I come to appreciate what a lot of what you do. So many videos make me feel icky nowadays for various reasons, to the point where I don't want to watch anything. It's hard to explain and complex, but I came to realise I never have this with your videos. It's always in such good faith, with interesting insight and just SO reasonable in SUCH a seemless way. You simply keep a separation between the drama and factuality and good conduct while being fun as well. You vehicule this feeling and spread it. I just want to say, thank you for making your intro 10 seconds. A while back I was dealing with a LOOOOT of mental health issues (most of which made me EXTREMELY irritable no matter how much I tried to just cope and deal with things). I had an episode at some point and complained that the intro was 15 seconds rather than 10 (which is the increment that KZbin allows you to skip forward on mobile) and I don’t know if you changed it because of the increment of KZbin time skips and/or people with irritability or not… but I definitely appreciate it. I’m doing much better now a days (was like 4 years ago when I was doing that bad). Dealt with a lot of things that stress me out and blah blah blah…. But I’m definitely appreciative of the intro being shortened

I just adore Scorpion's designs in MK11, it's the main costume that looks the best... but you don't see it often if you play the story or customize him often. It's pretty rare to have him look awful... That's usually meant for live action takes at most, and Injustice's, which I like elements, but like most of Injustice, is busy city.

Scorpion's face; the undead spectre showing emotion, it was incredible. (I separate Hanzo and Scorpion) His eyes are dead. His voice has the hellspawn effect. But when he says "The Fire Gardens... They have been restored?" He's very much alive. I hate D'Vorah, I hate that plot beat, I loved the voice acting and the motion capture though.

I do like his design in mk1 but like... it's Kuai Liang and not Hanzo Hasashi. That still bothers me a little bit that it's not Hanzo. I've heard a bunch of different rumors about what could be going on with Hanzo in this timeline and i dislike most of them. I've heard that he might just be chilling with his family and he's finally found that peaceful life he's been after for so long. I like that idea. I can get behind that. But then I've also heard that he might be the grandmaster of the lin kuei and the father of Bi Han and Kuai Liang. And I absolutely HATE that idea. If that is what they did with Hanzo in this timeline, not only do I personally think it's a stupid idea but it might also be a little culturally insensitive. I mean think about it, Bi Han and Kuai Liang are both Chinese names. Lin kuei is literally Chinese for "forests demons". So to make Hanzo Hasashi (a very Japanese name) the grandmaster of this ancient Chinese ninja clan and the father of these 2 Chinese men, that's kinda like saying: "eh Chinese Japanese same shit!"

The only way I reconcile the "Hanzo is their father" thing would be that they aren't related by blood. When you are Lin Kuei, you are family, thus the Grandmaster is your father regardless of blood. I wouldn't LIKE it, but that's what my mind jumps to.

Apparently the first season of invasions game revolves around Hanso, he's been travelling through different time periods to find his family. When he arrives at the current timeliness he realises his wife is alive but she's married to kuai Liang

In all fairness, Chinese Ninja's as a concept kinda fall into the idea of "Chinese Japaenese same shit!" I like that in the new timeline they're hard committing to things being different. If you're gonna change it up, then REALLY change it up IMO. My favourite theory so far is that Takeda is an alias and Hanzo IS Takeda in this universe, since Ed's been pretty adamant about none of the kombat kids being born. We'll see.

The reason why he has so much armor in deception is because it was gifted to him by the elder gods after he was thrown into the soulnado from deadly alliance. He was gifted the armor and sent out to do the gods bidding

Honestly my favorite design was 11's. It’s something about the red highlights, hood, and katana blades that I really like. I’m also a huge fan of the simple but effective look that Scorpion, Sub Zero, and Smoke have with their Lin Kuei uniforms in the new Mortal Kombat 1.

One cool thing to point out about MK1 Scorpion is the level of detail and the quality of fabric he's wearing compared to his brother, the Grandmaster Sub Zero, who has more metallic adornments and higher quality fabric. Great visual language to tell you the status of both characters despite being part of the same clan.

the best designs in any of these games are is if they are FUNCTIONAL to their character and style. i remember a story from the development of dmc devil may cry is that a lot of the monster designs did not use their tools as actual weapons and had to be fixed by the og series designer
