This song was in danger of being over played on the radio, back in 82-83...so many people would call up and request it all the time...one of the first hard rock ballads to cross over to non-metal fans...and soon rocketed the Scorpions to super stardom in the USA. We used to play the Blackout album over and over (and the earlier albums of course!)...that year they toured with Rainbow (JLT) and blew them off the stage...it was insane.

In my home town of Rochster, NY, long before the days of corporate radio, we had an AM station (WSAY) that had a dead record file. Basically, if a song(s) we’re getting too much airplay (either on WSAY, or any other local stations) they would shelve it for 30 days. This is also a station that at noon every day, they would say the complete Rosary. Btw, also in this era, there was another station on either Friday or Saturday at midnight (don’t remember which) they would play a complete album. And, I remember hearing all of Rush’s Xanadu doing regular hours. Oh yeah, and that’s also, when Dylan’s Hurricane would be played in its entirety; that song made me purchase Desire.
Girl, it's been a long time that we've been apart Much too long for a man who needs love I miss you since I've been away Babe, it wasn't easy to leave you alone It's getting harder each time that I go If I had the choice, I would stay There's no one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just wanna be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just wanna be loved by you Girl, there are really no words strong enough To describe all my longing for love I don't want my feelings restrained Ooh, babe, I just need you like never before Just imagine you'd come through this door You'd take all my sorrow away There's no one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just wanna be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just wanna be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just wanna be loved by you

So much passion and heart, and it speaks to me very profoundly, I have heard it my whole life but never gave it the credit it so deserves. Just like so many others here, I dedicate this to the one who just is unlike any other woman on the planet, if only she loved me like I do her 💔💔💔

LYRICS: Girl, it's been a long time that we've been apart Much too long for a man who needs love I miss you since I've been away Babe, it wasn't easy to leave you alone It's getting harder each time that I go If I had the choice, I would stay There's no one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just want to be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just want to be loved by you Girl, there are really no words strong enough To describe all my longing for love I don't want my feelings restrained Oh babe, I just need you like never before I just imagine you'd come through this door You'd take all my sorrow away There's no one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just want to be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just want to be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just want to be loved by you No one like you I can't wait for the nights with you I imagine the things we'll do I just want to be loved by you

As a teenager living in England, Queen and Scorpions (Lovedrive) were my entry into the world of Music. Not sure how I got into Queen but Scorpions was the favorite band of my older sisters boyfriend. The three albums Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism and Blackout were just the perfect run of music. Sure their later stuff still rocked but something about the new lineup beginning in Lovedrive sparked something that was just magical. Lovedrive is still one of my favorite albums.
