My favorite Dio tale: RJD arranged for taxis for some drunk kids (some of whom were teenage girls) stranded after his concert; RJD looked out for his fans and genuinely cared about them; he wouldn't leave them out on their own - that's a kind, decent and good man. Also, that this song - his song - he declared it belongs to everyone, it's everyone's song. RIP RJD. You are truly missed.

When you've tried, do they hide, deep inside Is it someone that you know You're just a picture, you're an image caught in time We're a lie, you and I We're words without a rhyme There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a rainbow in the dark Just a rainbow in the dark, yeah When I see lightning, you know it always brings me down 'Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found Feel the magic, I feel it floating in the air But it's fear, and you'll hear It calling you beware Look out There's no sight of the morning coming There's no sight of the day You've been left on your own Like a rainbow Like a rainbow in the dark, yeah You're a rainbow in the dark Just a rainbow in the dark No sign of the morning You're a rainbow in the dark

There's a new band called Liliac that has a lot of potential to become to this generation what Dio and his videos meant to us. Their cover of this classic is a proper tribute, especially considering that the band members' ages were in the 11 to 20 range. Their 'Chain of Thorns' EP and videos is the best new release in at least a decade.

Just pointing out that I'm noticing some contemporary bands honoring the best of our generation, @Jimmy Durex. Yes, I suppose it could be 'my own interest' being Facebook friends and sharing Slavic ancestry with 'Mama & Papa Liliac' and the band members; but that doesn't diminish their talent that's been advancing their success pretty well since the release of the debut EP this past January and recent KISS Kruise performance concluding their first US / Canada tour. As a semi-retired semi-professional musician, I recognize new talent. (you might want to check out the Andrei Cerbu / Andreea Munteanu collaboration 'Iron Cross' from Romania also)

Around 2008, I saw him twice; as the lead for Heaven & Hell. He was 66 at the time, but you wouldn't have known it. He had more energy and a better stage presence than singers half his age, and his singing was incredible. Few bands are as good live as they are in the studio. Heaven & Hell was one of them. I've seen plenty of front-men work a crowd. Sometimes it's painfully obvious that they're performing from a script. RJD was different, special--he was just so genuine. Having an authentic connection with his fans was clearly important to him. I wish I'd been able to see him more. I will always treasure my memories from those shows. Until we meet again.

God tried to bless Him but Ronnie denied Christ's Divinity and so unless He repented there are no more blessings to be bestowed upon him. He is lost forever to the pit if he died unrepentent and God condemned him. “I think that He was a prophet. I’ve had a difficult time coming to terms with Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He was a great man for the time. He was the right Man for the right time. Let’s put it this way: I think He was a hell of a lot better than Michael Jackson. I think the Christ figure is a very interesting piece of work, whoever wrote that piece. A lot of embellishment went on inside of it, I’m sure, but the one positive thing I can say about it I can say is that all of the work of Jesus Christ, all of His words, all of His teachings - if they were his - are certainly very positive attitude, and are to be admired. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Savior, I have no problem with that at all. But if it’s not Jesus Christ, it’s Buddha, you know? I mean, we’re talking about religion in one small faction. Catholicism and Christianity are not the only religion on this planet. There have got to a situation where by there are others who are Christ-like. We ever know, in other religions, they have similar names for people. They seem to be edging the issue, because they don’t want to put everybody off about Jesus Christ. My feelings are that the teachings were great, but in my mind, my religious beliefs are that you are God, and you are Jesus Christ, and you are the devil, and I am, and all the people I know around me are. But I don’t need to go to some place and listen to somebody else to tell me whether I’m good or bad, or whether I’m right or wrong. I am my shrine. You are your shrine. We are all Jesus Christ, and again, I have no problem with anyone thinking Jesus Christ is this deity, someone up there. It’s cool.” - Ronnie James Dio So yea no man can bless what God has cursed and since Ronnie denied Jesus He had committed the unforgivable sin which shuts off the door to repentence. It takes a miracle from God Himself to save a person stuck in the Eternal Sin.
